I saw the Fonua tackle on Pearce - what a joke.
Pearce is a protected species and it should never even have been a sin bin.
No wonder the big bloke was pissed off when he left the field.
Having said that, our chances of beating Manly have just sky rocketed.
Not if he gets off as is fighting the charge

Pearce was falling but Fonua did throw an arm out. If Pearce is a protected species, that sux for Newcastle. He has been really average in the games I have seen him play for them.

I just hope it's Latimore who makes way for de Belin even though he, Host and Leilua are technically backrowers.

I'm just saying he was falling into the tackle and contact was made 6" off the ground.
Maybe a penalty but sin bin and suspension?
Let's get fair dinkum.
Pearce has always been a hard working halfback with no x factor.
Used to love sticking it up us when he was at Easts but Newcastle is a different story.

AFB suspended? Seriously?
Shouldn’t have even been a penalty.

Deserves the ban. If he just slipped high because Pierce was falling I could understand, but it was a careless swing arm towards the player that hit him in the head. No control of what he was doing, so it wasn’t intentional, just careless. Only 1game, but he fought it and had priors. He lost control and it was dangerous the end

There seems to be some inconsistent decisions being made these days. It really needs to be sorted out. In the game against the Dogs last round, different interpretations regarding the play the ball were there for all of us to see. On three occasions, the ruling went against the Dragons even though the penalty was for placing the ball on the opposition players foot. Our players did it once and the Dogs did it twice but all penalties wen the Dogs way.

I thought it was a 2 game suspension?

Why are we even giving oxygen to the suspension of AFB? Seriously, he plays for another club. If it was say Paul Vaughan, I could understand the comments but FMD his suspension just means he wont be out there come Saturday evening.
Good news for us or could it be bad as anorher will be given an opportunity to shine in his place un hope of cementing a permanent spot.

Ravalawa travels light from Fiji to bright lights of NRL

When rookie St George Illawarra winger Mikaele Ravalawa arrived from Fiji to begin his NRL career he had nothing more than a backpack with a change of clothes and his football boots.

Ravalawa, who was recruited by the Raiders in 2017 after being spotted playing rugby union in Christchurch, recounted his introduction to Australia as he spoke about his hopes of establishing himself at the Dragons beyond his current two-year contract.

After landing at Canberra airport at the start of the 2017 season, Ravalawa was met by Raiders welfare manager David Thom.

"We went down to the luggage room and we were waiting there for a while," Ravalawa said.

"I turned around to him and asked what are we waiting for, and he just said ‘we are waiting for your luggage’.

"I said ‘sorry, I don’t have any luggage. I have just got my backpack here’. It was just a small backpack."

Ravalawa’s backpack contained nowhere enough to survive a Canberra winter.

Under Lights - Anzac Round edition: Ben Hunt

"I just had some clothes – just one spare undies, one pants, a shirt and my rugby boots. That’s all," he said.

"When I got there it was getting cold and I was like, ‘oh, it’s freezing’. Straight after my first payment I went shopping and I started buying warm stuff like jumpers."

The former Fiji under 18s rugby sevens captain had little knowledge of rugby league or interest in the NRL but after winning Canberra’s under 20s player of the year in 2017, earning selection in the Bati’s World Cup squad and making his debut for the Dragons in round one that has changed.

Gradually improving with each NRL appearance, the 21-year-old has scored three tries in his last two matches against Newcastle and Canterbury, made 19 line breaks and is averaging 136.5 running metres in five games.

Fiji teammate and former South Sydney utility James Storer, who lives in Wollongong, has taken Ravalawa under his wing since he joined St George Illawarra and the pair regularly go fishing together.

"I know James from when I went to the World Cup," Ravalawa said.

"He just came down to the beach to play touch. I went there and saw him there. The next morning, we went spear diving and caught some fish.

"He is a good bloke. He just told me to contact him if I wanted anything. He always helps others and treats them in the same way."

After having to rely on teammates to take him to training in Canberra, Ravalawa is enjoying living near WIN Stadium, where the Dragons host Manly on Saturday night.

"It’s like way different moving from Canberra to Wolllongong than coming from Fiji to Canberra," he said.

"In Canberra I lived like 30 minutes away from the stadium.

Match Highlights: Dragons v Bulldogs

"The weather in Wollongong is pretty much like back home and it is so nice. The stadium is near the sea and you breathe good air at training.

"The first time coming here I was so nervous. I didn’t really know some of the big Aussie players like Tyson Frizell, Tariq Sims and Paul Vaughan. I had just heard of them and seen them on TV but everyone has welcomed me.

"I am here for a few years and if I play good I will probably go for them again."

Manu and Fonua-Blake both suspended

The Sydney Roosters have been dealt a blow ahead of this Friday's blockbuster against Melbourne Storm with centre Joseph Manu found guilty of a dangerous contact charge at the judiciary and suspended for one match.

Manu was hit with a dangerous contact grade one charge for an incident involving Cronulla's Sione Katoa and pleaded not guilty on Tuesday night.

The guilty verdict rules the classy centre out of the highly anticipated grand final rematch showdown with the Melbourne Storm.

Sea Eagles prop Addin Fonua-Blake was also found guilty of a careless high tackle at the NRL judiciary and will miss two matches.

Fonua-Blake was hit with a grade one charge for his tackle on Newcastle's Mitchell Pearce in the 68th minute of the clash at McDonald Jones Stadium.

He pleaded not guilty at the judiciary but was unsuccessful and will miss Manly's next two games against the Dragons and Canberra.

Titans prop Jarrod Wallace will miss two matches after pleading guilty to a shoulder charge offence during his side's win over Penrith on Friday night.

Wallace will miss matches against the Knights and Wests Tigers following his 55th-minute tackle on Dallin Watene-Zelezniak at Cbus Super Stadium.

Wallace was one of two players to accept suspensions - the other being Cowboys winger Nene Macdonald who pleaded no contest to a dangerous contact charge. The fractured and dislocated ankle he suffered on Friday night rendered any suspension a secondary consideration.

Five other players - Mitch Rein, Josh McGuire, Kurt Baptiste, Christian Welch and Curtis Sironen - escaped with either no suspension or a fine after pleading guilty to charges arising from round five.

In incidents coming out of Sunday's matches, Dragons winger Mikaele Ravalawa and Bulldogs forward Sauaso Sue (two charges) both entered guilty pleas on Tuesday.

Ravalawa avoided suspension with an early guilty plea while Sue will miss two matches - one for each charge.
