Bulls defeated the Knights 54 - 40 Friday night. Bulls dominated the 1st half. However, the Knights came back, and put the Bulls on their toes for most of the 2nd half.

The match ended with a last minute try by Erik Hollingsworth.

Bulls were without 4 of their starting 13 players, so guys had to step up and the interchange got alot of time. The numbers were about the same on both teams, at about 20 for each side.

The Bulls played without Dave Nui, Shayne Mains, Rick Dortone, and Cory Sherridan.

Anyone know the result for the warrors/raiders game ?

It would appear that the Raiders have forfeited their game against the Warriors, and perhaps their remaining games for the season. According to the Warriors web site ( www.newhavenwarriors.net ) , the Warriors had a "bye" this weekend, when they were scheduled to play the Raiders. With the Raiders copping some floggings so far, perhaps they have just had enough!

Personally, I think an 8 team AMNRL would be more manageable, with the Wildcats, Warriors, Knights, Bulls , Sharks, Fight, Slayers, and Axemen. All these teams have at some time this season put in at least one good performance. I would resurrect the conference structure, with 4 teams in each, basically split on geographical lines. Each team in one conference would play the other twice , both home and away, and the teams from the other conference once, with one of these cross conference games being at the "War at the Shore". This would help to minimise travel costs which must have a significant impact on teams travelling from as far as New England to Florida.
So, there would be 10 rounds in the regular season, which is one up on the current format. I think this would be better than the current format, and would make for a more competitive season.

That makes a lot of sense IMO. It would be much better to have an even amount of rounds -- and the conference structure could really save on travel costs.

It's a tough call because a lot of people put in some really hard work to make a go of teams and you want them to succeed. But from a standpoint of survival you have to go with your strongest assets.

I like Poul's format too. Maybe now is the time for a little consolidation rather than expansion. Unfortuantely not all of the teams can make the same kind of committments as some of the others and this makes the league look very amateurish to outsiders. I know it IS an amateur league but we all seem to want and expect, probably wrongly, a more professional appearance. Maybe now they need to grow teams from where they are at this moment in time rather than expect a new entity to come on board and put in hundreds, if not, thousands of miles in travelling. It can be an expensive business for any amateur team let alone one without much in the way of income or sponsorship.
