September 10 would be the first week of NRL finals (and I guess AFL too) based on having the GF on the first weekend of October

According to Wikipedia (I know, I know) the event will be held 10 September – 23 October 2027. Perhaps Leichhardt Oval, Bathurst, Tamworth, Mackay etc will be holding games in the pool rounds

That would be the equivalent of Accor being sold out to watch Argentina V Georgia.

Interesting to read France is strong in league at the younger age groups, the under 17s recently beat England by a large margin, the top talent play both codes but they all go to Union due to the professional opportunities. The frustrating thing is France were due to launch a domestic professional league competition on the back of 2025 league world cup buts thats all gone up in smoke.

It's Rugby Union so it's only green grass and daffodils in Peter's Rugby bubble. It's a great result for world rugby and shows how the game is growing (as opposed to how the game is shrinking in Australia)

There’s some great comments on that story. There are people correctly pointing out that those moaning about the death of running rugby do have the opportunity to watch some excellent running rugby- it’s called rugby league.

A union player can sit down on the field during play (I use the term loosely) for a rest when he/she is tired. This mainly occurs before one of the scintillating scrums
