Rugby League for Dummies?

Has anyone read this book, does it mention anything about the greatest game of all? Despite the derogatory title I think these type of book are excellent learning resources and if there isn't one focused on RL then there should be.

I don't think there are any "how to" books on RL available. There might have been one in my school library a few years ago but I think it was published in 1908 going by the content and condition, "a try is worth 3 points",etc.

If there was a decent book on RL available I think the NRL would be wise to donate free copies to school libraries in areas not considered RL heartlands like VIC, SA and WA. Perhaps even overseas as well.

They should rename that book, "Rugby is for dummies."

the league book is a good idea though, gets the game out there a bit more

i think that book was written for the likes of Eddie Jones and Ewen Mackenzie.
Apparently eddie gives it to his league converts. Sadly for eddie only Lote could read he didnt count on big Dell and Mat the rat being illiterate

I bought a book on Ebay a few weeks ago called 'Skills Development for Rugby League' in the style of one of those Dummies books. It's an English book from about 1996-ish and has all the rules of the game, plus all the tackling techniques, passing, kicking, etc and lots of coaching tips and other stuff. Great buy if you can find it.

There is only one copy available of "Rugby League for Dummies", you'll have to borrow it off Brian Smith when he's done with it!

If they ever write a Rugby League for Dummies, it'll need to be forwarded on to alot of people, Hasler, Smith, Souths, Rooster Cogburn, Fitzgerald.....

I have flicked through it, Im pretty sure it just says that Rugby League is a form of rugby that is contained to Northern England and Eastern Australia.

Nothing particularly inspiring. :x

The Chapters on attack and defence should read like this

CHAPTER 5: Patterns in defence & attack

Please refer to any RL book printed in the 1980's. It's what any self respecting RU coach does these days...Just remember to account for fat props and slower ball distribution...add 10 seconds to any play.
