While reading the last Jets match report, I noticed the names of the players in the newtown squad, names like Lai,Sarkis, El Masri,La Vin,Nicholas,Dickson,Parker, Balieilomaloma,Vial, Deeb,Lang,Leuluai,Amone,Kirk, Dumas,Sa,Paea,Nuuausala,Le Breton,Lewis..........
and I thought is there any nationality NOT represented in the jets.Just in that list there are backgrounds from England,Ireland,Asia, Southern Europe,Eastern Europe,Wales, the Middle East,New Zealand,,France and the south Pacific Islands!

So I thought was it always like this at newtown? I dusted off an old big league,19-25 March 1977,Newtown vs Wests and its the same
Pilon,Pagano,Casey,Moore,Kosta,Oliveri,Faux,McNamara,Murphy,Sidirourgos,
Edwards,Dawson,Floyd,Sigsworth, there's Irish,Scots,Welsh,English, Greeks,
Italians,Indigenous Australians, there's even an African-American in the centres in FIRST GRADE!!!!!

Pat yourself on the back Newtown, you are DOING what all the worthless politicians and useless bureaucrats only TALK about!

Rugby League has suceeded in bringing people together, where people are
judged on how much effort they put in and how much heart they have,Not the colour of their skin or the way they talk.

League (along with AFL) is the only sport which supports 72 different nationalities in their ranks, and also supports our indigenous people, in fact the first Aboriginal person to Captain his country in ANY sport was Arthur Beetson.

This is the game that best represents my country, because it brings its people together.

Artie was a legend of the game, and I totally agree with what Casey just wrote. It brings people together from different cultures, and is also supported with similar haste from the multi cultural backgrounds of it's passionate supporters.

That's what CAN make Australia great if everyone wanted to fit into this great country and is a fine example of what can potentially happen if everyone joined as one team. However there are always different teams in a comp, and some teams will continue to dislike others for reasons that differ. However real in their minds to each and their own although at times completley uneccesary and wrong...

But I love the fact that the jet's are an example of what CAN happen when everyone joins as one.

PS.........But there will always be certain Canterbury fan's who will disagree...Though are those that don't agree actually desire to belong to the clan of true football supporters or true Australians at all ???!!!
