NRL.com recently had a fan poll with one of the questions being what rule change would you most like to see?

With a meeting next week of the games sharpest minds to discuss potential rule changes we can save them the time .... with LU sharpest minds discussing rule changes :D

So, what do we need to do to make Rugby League great again ?

im fine with them if the balls been kicked from more then 40m out, otherwise normal 6 tackle

What about just 6 tackles but the restart is from where the ball was kicked with the 20m line being the minimum?

Eliminates the deliberate kick dead which the 7 tackle set was designed to do without punishing teams for grubbers that are inches too long or knocking on in goal.

- Golden point. [A draw IS a result]
- One ref & teach the linesman how to actually do their job. - Seriously, half the time they can't even judge when a players foot touches or goes over the sideline.
- The stripping rule. - What a joke it is, especially when two go into the tackle then one drops off.
- Trainers not allowed on field during play.

the 7 tackle rule was brought out to stop teams stuck in their own 20/30 area booting the crap out of it and having teams start with 6 tackle from there 20,
I want that rule to stay BUT getting punished from trying to find the corner from the attacking side of the 50 has to change.
Bombing on the last has become frigging boring

Golden point seems the popular theme so I'll chime in with a restructure of premiership points.

4 for a win at the end of 80 minutes.
3 for a win in/after extra time.
2 for a tie after extra time.
1 for a loss in/after extra time.
0 for a loss at the end of 80 minutes.

I would also change extra time to golden try.

So, what do we need to do to make Rugby League great again ?

1. Get rid of most scrums. They are a complete waste of time. Replace them with a tap restart to the team that would have had the feed.

2. Shorten the time on the shot clock and don't let the players see how much time is left on it so that they don't wait for the last second.

the 7 tackle rule was brought out to stop teams stuck in their own 20/30 area booting the crap out of it and having teams start with 6 tackle from there 20.

No it wasn't. It was introduced because there were certain attacking fullbacks who were so devastating in broken play that teams began deliberately kicking the ball dead to keep from having to defend against their kick returns.

Get rid of golden point.
Reduce interchange to 6.
Get rid of the strip rule, back to one on one only.
No more 7 tackle restarts.

Referees and NRL to read the rule book in regards to the ruck and enforce the ruck rules - and stop the extra that goes on.

It's very explicit in the rule book

Get rid of Golden Point for comp games. NRL have it right for finals.

No 7 tackle set for field goal attempts

Pack scrums 10m from sideline

Attackers must be 5m behind the ruck

Ball touches ref or trainer it's a scrum feed to defending team. Unless on 5th tackle then it's a changeover

Kicks blocked on the rise or grubbers within 20m zone are chargedowns and not 6 to go

Tripping an automatic send off.
Actually penalise voluntary tackles.
Draws for regular season.
If you are punched you are allowed to defend yourself and fight back.

Tripping an automatic send off.

This is one I can agree with

* No golden point in regular season games. Draw is a draw

* Abolish the seven tackle rule for knock ons in goal and introduce a line 1 metre past the dead ball line and adjacent to touch in goal line to give kickers a chance. I hate when a seven tackle set is awarded when the ball just trickles dead or touches the line

* Bring back the corner post

* If they persist with two refs, one controls the ten the other controls the ruck and general play
