JTB to the Dragons on a wink nod loan deal
Kent was saying he’s going to break his contract with us then off to the Dragons for 3 weeks and then resign a new contract with the Warriors. Why? Am I missing something

Yeah, strange one. But at least he gets game time.
But what does he re-sign for? More, less or the same $?

Lol, 7 figures a season, that'd be outrageous. Great player though.

Wonder if at FB and Walsh halves?

NRL RIVAL’S $1 MILLION PLAY FOR ROOSTERS STAR

The Warriors are set to launch a monster $1 million a season bid for Roosters centre Joey Manu.

The Australian’s Brent Read reported the Warriors have told the Roosters they will make a play for Manu, who is off-contract at the end of 2022, when he is free to negotiate as of November 1.

“It is interesting because there have been some stories lately that the Roosters are desperate to tie Joey Manu down,” Read said on Triple M’s The Rush Hour with MG & Liam.

“He has got one year left on his deal from November 1, which means from November 1 he can start talking to other clubs.

“Someone from the Warriors has already reached out to the Roosters and said out of respect for you and your club we are letting you know right now. We are going to have a red hot go and Joey Manu from November 1.

“This was before the Warriors signed Reece Walsh because they were looking at Joey Manu as a fullback.

“But I understand they are still very keen on Joey Manu. They will look to play him at five-eighth in the No.6 jersey.

“I would imagine the offer for Joey Manu is going to be in the seven figure bracket. He is about to become the game’s next million dollar man.

“As I understand it the Warriors are willing to give him somewhere close to that.

“The Roosters have got a big fight on their hands in the next three months to try and tie Joey Manu down.

“If they can’t he is going to cop a massive offer from the Warriors.”

The 25-year-old has scored 37 tries in 109 games for the Roosters since his debut in 2016 and has three tries in eighth Tests for New Zealand to go with premierships in 2018 and 2019.

Maybe we should be comparing Shannon/Ashurst/Woodville with Gore rather than a city of over 80k. 😀

Not from the Herald but we're definitely chasing Joseph Manu...

The Warriors have confirmed they will make a play for the Chooks’ Joey Manu.

Manu has been linked with a switch to rugby union, but could move to the Warriors and be the face of the club.

That would also invite multiple sponsorship opportunities in New Zealand.

Crucially it could see the Warriors shift Reece Walsh to No. 6 with Shaun Johnson in the halves to accommodate Manu at fullback.

And on Saturday the club’s recruitment manager, Peter O’Sullivan, said the club were willing to make a big play for the Kiwi international.

“He’s a target, he’s a quality player, he fits the bill for sure,” said O’Sullivan.

“He’s a big body, good defender and he goes after games. He’s an ideal player for us if we get a shot at him in November.

“When the game is on the line, he attacks games.

“He plays big moments and makes things happen. If he wants to go home, we would love to have him.”

Makes me laugh though, contract rules say we can't approach him until November but there's nothing wrong with playing it all out in the media first so he knows what's coming while the Roosters may be trying to lock him away earlier.

The Warriors are yet to complete their roster for next season – but are in no rush to fill the final few spots.

The Auckland club have cash in hand, especially with the money freed up by the departure of Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, who was their highest-paid player, on more than a million dollars a season.

But they will take a wait and see approach, as the transfer market appears more fluid than ever.

"We have still got two spots available and that process is ongoing, in terms of what positions and who will fill those spots," Warriors' recruitment manager Peter O'Sullivan told the Herald.

"Like Addin [Fonua-Blake] last year, generally a player becomes available in the off-season so it is always advantageous to have a couple of spots up their sleeve. You never know who comes up and if you have the money available you can use it to your advantage."

O'Sullivan and coach Nathan Brown have overseen a period of significant personnel change at the Warriors in the last 12 months.

Ten players moved on at the end of last season, the most in almost a decade, with six arriving, and there has been more turnover this year.

Ken Maumalo, Hayze Perham, Paul Turner, Tuivasa-Sheck and Leeson Ah Mau have departed, with Peta Hiku to join Cowboys at the end of this season.

Reece Walsh, Matt Lodge, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and Chad Townsend (loan) have entered the fray during this campaign, while Storm front rower Aaron Pene and halfback Shaun Johnson will arrive for 2022.

Sean O'Sullivan, Jackson Frei and Tom Ale are notable uncontracted players.

O'Sullivan has proved a capable back-up halfback. He has played 10 games this season, featuring in five of the Warriors' eight victories. But the arrival of Johnson and the presence of Chanel Harris-Tavita and Kodi Nikorima will likely squeeze out the 24-year-old, with Cronulla a possible destination.

Ale (22) has made two interchange appearances, while Frei (23) enjoyed a solid NRL debut against the Bulldogs last Sunday.

O'Sullivan also confirmed the Warriors are set to make a major play for Roosters centre Joseph Manu.

The 25-year-old is contracted until the end of the next season but will be free to test the market from November 1, unless he agrees an extension at the Bondi club, which appears unlikely.

"He's a target, he's a quality player, he fits the bill for sure," said O'Sullivan. "He's a big body, good defender and he goes after games. He's an ideal player for us if we get a shot at him in November."

Manu, who already has two grand final rings, will be sought after on the open market, with even All Blacks coach Ian Foster recently admitting interest. O'Sullivan sees him as someone to build a backline around, with his ability to play centre, five eighth and fullback.

"When the game is on the line, he attacks games," added O'Sullivan. "He plays big moments and makes things happen. If he wants to go home, we would love to have him."
