Michael Gordon is off contract and Sharks don't want him, Eels were only interested as long as he was available immediately and it looks like he might not find a club in 2016.

Obviously he's not the player he was when he left. But I would still like to see him offered David Simmons contract to be brought home and used for depth. Essentially replacing Simmons role in the team. I don't expect it to happen, but it would suck if this is how his career ends.

I think his best days are well and truly behind him.

What has happened to him is why I have no sympathy for clubs when players sign elsewhere. Gorman has left him high and dry and denied him a chance for a contract. Players have short careers and need every penny they can get. He is still a good player and if he is lucky another club may need a fill in winger for a year or so.

Without doubt. He's still a solid player though and would be a great backup. I wouldn't want him holding back a Jennings or Blake. But if they got injured I would be confident in him as a replacement.

I think he'd go to England before he came here to play reserve grade.

He's probably fetch an extra 100k a season in England. If you haven't got a post footy career lined up, an extra couple of hundred k in the bank is a desired outcome.

Not gonna happen.

I think he has one big enough contract left in him.

It wont be with us I don't think.

I would not want him back here.

I was not very pleased about the way he left, playing a handful of games over 2 years because of injury. Penrith stuck by him, rehabilitated him and he just said "stick it where the sun don't shine"

Cronulla was his saviour then, let them be his saviour now

My thoughts also.

Gordon is not the player he once was, he knee has hampered him the past 12 months. Any club getting him will have to manage him delicately until retirement. If he wants money and a slower game go to the esl.

I don't blame him for taking a better offer. Look whats happened now, the sharks f**k up their recruitment by signing a useless Barba and Gordon gets shafted and is stuck without an offer for next season now. Imagine if he took unders to stay with us by now he would be under pressure to keep his wing spot or FB if he ever got it and would surely be a lot worse off financially and in similar position careerwise.

Today From SMH - "Warriors cult hero Suaia Matagai is set to be granted a release within a matter of days to join a yet-to-be-named Sydney club."

Let's hope it is us. He is just the sort of front rower we need.

Maybe we have offloaded Docker to sign him...

Also - for what its worth, Manly have signed Nate Miles (3yrs). He is not coming to Penrith.

He was terrific for us and never put in anything less than 100% when he played. Had we allowed him to move to fullback or centre permanently, and paid him the money that a quality centre or fullback was worth he would have more than likely stayed.

But we considered him a winger before anything else, and we were only willing to pay him as a winger. The Sharks saw value in him as a fullback and were willing to pay him a lot more money.

You can't blame a bloke for taking a bigger contract when he has had a fair few injuries throughout his career and has a family to look after. He left on good terms as far as I am concerned.

Hi MX, I do understand that he took a higher offer and had to look after his family etc.

But I also think he owed Penrith some sort of loyalty since he barely played for 2 years, took our rehabilitation, the jumped ship.

Why should Penrith show him any remorse when he showed a lack of loyalty.

BTW, he was one of my favourite players when he was here for the reason that you stated - he gave 100% when he played
