We'll have growing pains in creating chemistry but even if there are early struggles I'd stick with it as by game 5-7 we'll start to click ala how Dogs have come together this year. Crap early in the season then mid season buys came in...and won 11 in a row now.

I'm still of the belief that Pangai will be utilised off the bench if anything as well. I don't think he'll start at centre unless Whare is a stand out at fullback which i doubt he'll be considering Moylan will be available.

Pangai is a massive human and I can see him eventually being a Tony Williams style impact player. Him and Tia-Kilifi off the bench eventually would be frightening.

I was thinking this morning what our 2014 team would look like.

2014:
1. Moylan, 2. Watene/Satini/G.Jennings/Mackay, 3. Jennings, 4. Whare, 5. Roberts, 6. Coote, 7.???, 8. O'Donnell, 9. Segeyaro, 10. Grant, 11. Manu, 12. Robinson, 13. Austin
14. McKendry, 15. Pangai, 16. Brown, 17. V.Tia-Kilifi

With Manu able to shift up to prop at a pinch. I go with this for a few reasons. You may ask where Mansour, Weston, Kingston, Plum, N.Smith are? My answer...not here. Along with Ciraldo, Galea, Newton, Simmons, Armit. That's 10 guys going...and who'll replace them? Our young guys who are being groomed this year and next to take over. This is the plan that is being put in place.

You may ask why Mansour isn't here? Well, you saw this year that Gould has no desire to get into a bidding war for wingers...and with a plethora of young guys capable of filling the void...I don't see him overpaying if another team gets involved. Similar story with Weston. His dropping at certain stages this year signal that if a better option is available he isn't going to overpay and with young guys like Hollis etc likely to put there hand up at some stage of 2014 I don't see them re-signing Weston. As for Kingston...I doubt Segeyaro came here to ride the pine...he'll be our fulltime hooker with Blake South/Ryan Simpkins as back up.

The ?? at half...well you could figure out who I think that'll be.

You may think we lack size off the bench...and you MAY be right...but we certainly don't lack impact. O'Donnell will be in a position to be this years Weston and an aggressive starter with McKendry used where he should be...off the bench with freedom. Throw into the mix a bulked up/ripped Pangai (think T-Rex build), VTK with some additional size and Brown off the bench as a backrow/hooker and there is substantial size there even without a specialist 2nd prop.

We may even see 6.Seijka with Coote shown the door after next year as well. Overall I dig that 2014 team even without many additions...using the guys we'll be developing in 2013.

I wouldn't change them from the side after a few bad games. It might take a few different positions to get the right balance. Like how much time will Segeyaro get early on? things like bring him on for longer. Whether Whare is fullback or not. maybe not be sorted for 10 weeks but. Without knowing pre-season injuries it's hard also.

As for your 2014 team Moss would come in somewhere you would think but where is the question. Mansour we should start talking to over the off season get in early. Even a 12 month extention for now. Then we have a guaranteed team for 2 years.

By 2014 Bryce Cartwright will be in the mix for first grade

.

Gould didn't get into a bidding war for a winger in his late twenties with a recent history of major injuries.

If mansour continues to develop and makes the major meters he's been making I would think Gould would at least put in a competitive offer to retain him.

Not saying wouldn't be competitive.

I'm saying he wont pay overs...is my point.

And Mob is right, Bryce will be ready by then. Which means we go from a position of weakness to a position of strength in matter of 1-2 years.

i doubt mansour will get the offers from other clubs that match what cronulla gave gordon.Gould with out a doubt has stopped the over paying of players and i am sure mansour will get offered a decent upgrade when the time comes

Wingers don't win comps.

You shouldn't be paying a winger more than $125k imo unless he is exceptional...which I'm sorry to say...Mansour is not. Good player and a hell of a story but he isn't elite and is able to be replaced. Not like we did with Rooney and give him $350k. If he gets offered more than say $150k I'd be prepared to let him walk given the talent we have coming through.

Him at 60% is better than what we have right now IMO.

Yeah i agree but him at 100% is better then him at 60%. If he plays the majority of the season imjury free then he should atleast be settled and hitting some good form by late season/finals time.

I think another thing we all probably know but hasn't been mentioned on Manu is what his arrival will mean for Jennings. Assuming he is played on the left (I think he plays on the right for Melbourne but we'd be dumb not to pair him with Jenko) he will leave a lot of doubt in the minds of defenders regardless of whether he's playing at 60% or 100%. Playing on the end of Coote and Manu rather than Burns and Ciraldo (WTF) will give Jennings so much more space.

Same goes for the rest of our existing players. As much as I have criticised Walsh with the best of them, next year will truely be his best chance to shine. He will have a strong forward pack who should create space. A hooker who provides impact and fast service. A halves partner who can take the pressure off him. A backline with speed to burn. No more excuses next year.

On the subject of next year with the rumours of Ron Palmer heading down the M4 to join Ricky's crew has anybody heard anything about a new head trainer/conditioner

Nothing against Ron but the quantity of injuries to NRL and NYC this year may highlight an archaic methodology.

I'm sure there are very good trainers out there who are up-to-speed with modern fitness methods.

Yeah it might not be true but there has to be some relationship between our head conditioner and the constant injury toll we live with.
We always had a lot of injuries under Carl Jennings, I hoped that might change with Palmer coming on board, but it has worsened.

I'm not against a change here.

You are having a shocker Mick!

KANE Morgan.

Competition for spots in the three quarter line is going to be intense.

FFS epic fail. lol. I'm working too many hours. My mind is all over the freakin place.

6 weeks straight of 14 hour days 7 days a week taking it's toll I think.

I know its freaking Kane Morgan because I follow the bastard on Twitter lol. How did I get that wrong. *sigh*
