Not sure if it was in the paper or an internet article, but it did mention Cole will go head to head with Talagi for the 6. Cleary mentioned he didn’t want to make any bold decisions.Read into that what you want.

I think its a 3 way race between, cole, talagi and laurie.

Daine will 100% know what ivan needs from him to get a shot in fg in the 6.

I really do think he could be a smokey this year..maybe not to start in the 6 but i think if he gets an opportunity he will impress as long as he can sort out his defence.

I just didnt see enough from schnieder last year to suggest hes anything more then a back up 7 for when naths out.

Imo both cogger and sos looked much better then him when filling in.

Theres been a lot made by some of talagis defence.. all ill say is it is very very rare for an 18/19 yo coming into grade to have elite defence in the nrl.

Muga has carried on way to much and basically black listed the kid.

Whether he starts i dont know but i think hes definitely got the most potential which is exciting.

People can be mad for whatever reasom but these are the exact kimd of signings the club should always look to bring in.

We are a development club. No need for 1mil signings.

Bring in kids with hige potential(16-19yo) to fill holes and gaps where juniors are and mould them.

He seems to be all the talk of preseason. Him and cole.

The real talk should be...

Will leota step up without fish...
How do lindsay and henry progress this year...
Can martin turn into a big game player every week, bot just origin and finals...
Can tago go to another level this year...
Will papali find another level at a good club..

Everyone demanding so much of the rookies but for me its the big guns that need to step up next season.

Because we have rookies in most positions across the park.

Even more so as the handful of senior guys will miss games across the year

I haven't black listed him, just saying I don't believe the hype on this kid, from what I've seen, and knowing, Ivan won't put laurie in anywhere in the starting 13 coz of his defence, so what chance has turnstyle talagi, he has the year to prove me wrong, and he doesn't need to rush given he is 19yrs old, I'm just pointing out his extremely bad defensive decisions will cost us if he is our six, a few off seasons and I'll be happy to see him grow and be a better player, but in no way is he capable to be our starting five eighth not this year, so why the hype on him? Why is he a straight swap on luai, on all these predicted rosters, surely a fit cole is ahead of him

There is hype on him because he’s super talented. That’s kinda how hype works.

Give me an example

cmon really you can't look at the relevant NYC team of the years and look at the duds in those sides? Or the NRL rookie of the years. Hell the Australian schoolboys in recent times have been hit or miss.

Hell Alamonti was one such player who was talked up and was unwanted before we saved him from the scrapheap

When we won Ball in 2018 that side was stacked and has produced a few test and Origin players.

Our player of the year was Shawn Blore - 5 years in yet to play rep footy and only now starting to look more than an average NRL guy.

The Australian Schoolboys halfback that year was Jock Madden. Still is a fringe halfback and yet to reach any sort of heights.

So these highly rated players don't always work out. Hopefully it does here but caution is needed when waiting for one to click

But I’m after an example of someone who has had the same level of hype that Blaize has had.

It’s not a hard question.

The best example you can give me just win a premiership with us…. Id say he’s lived up to the hype…..

Well hype is a hard thing to judge but looking at the stuff we can

He wasn't Parra's player of the year for Ball last year

Nor their best back or coaches award...

Same too for Flegg

Didn't make the NSW u19's team

He was ranked 37 in the top 50 schoolboy players in 2022.

So while there is no doubt some talent it isn't like he had won every award available up until this stage

I’ve no idea what school boy ranking system you’re looking at, but in 22 he was “that Kid” at Westfield that everyone was talking about at all of the Carnivals.

He was definitely one of the stand out players when ever I watched that team.

Any way, my point is, the hype is real and deserved. Now he has to put his head down and take his opportunity.

Another player that got big hype when he was young, but when he played first grade he was shit, is Ash Taylor
