Eisenhuth is plod, basically a guy not good enough to be top 17, but can fill a hole when needed. Every team needs a few plodders. And Huth is as reliable as they come and on the top shelf of plod, worth every cent we are paying him.

Plod usually doesn't apply to a bloke who's last game was for Australia. They are just young, nothing really plod about either of them.

Plod for me is defends well. Does his job but doesn't offer much outside of that.

Plenty of depth guys we had last year did that. Hell Kenny would fall into that category.

I can't imagine too many coaches doing video on the dangerous hooker play in our side

Kevvie will have nightmares for life over Kennys dummy half work in the closing stages of the 23 GF.

Lindsay Smith I just don't rate that highly yet.
But I still think he is a decent NRL level player. But he is 25 now so about to enter his best years.
Henry is still just 23. Unsure his ceiling but he improved as season went on.
Still when Leota and JFH where subbed I reckon it was noticeable and also noticeable when they returned.

I reckon this is a fair enough opinion TBH. Would be an average or slightly above average front rower for most teams but fits our system well and is reliable.

Broncos are one team he does well against. Scored 50% of his career tries against them as well

He is one guy we need more from to cover Luai.

He works in the system because Yeo is a beast, He is cheaper than most hookers as a result which helps

I'm pretty sure most coaches will tell their players not to run near Mitch Kenny for fear of injury.

The
@PenrithPanthers
have signed halfback OWEN KNOWLES to play in their 2025 Harold Matthews team. Owen a talented halfback played for the U/16 Central Coast Roosters last season. Panthers fans will be familiar with the surname as Owen’s father Hayden Knowles had a successful stint at Penrith in 2019-21 as their High Performance Manager. #PantherPride

That’s a really good signing, I was hoping that rumour was true.

Fish was 24 at the start of 2020, the season he stamped himself as an elite prop. It was in fact his first full season as a prop. Leota wasn’t starting until 2021 at age 25 and to that point was a streaky if promising bench prop.

At 25 Smith is basically at exactly the same point in his career as both of those guys when they took the step. He’s an Australian rep already and he hasn’t even got the chance to play his game which is quite different to Fish/Leota. We should see his hands a bit more this year and his unique value will become a bit more obvious.

Henry is a couple years further away from that point but also on the same track. I see him as being much closer to the hard nosed, relentless style of Fish. He’s not got the hands of Fish or the footwork of Leota but that boy going to hurt a lot of people. Looks a real Liam Martin Origin type player to me.

We need a much better year from Moses as well as Martin to help take the pressure off those two while they take the step towards being elite.

I think Smith swaps with Yeo around 2027 also to start the transition into a post Yeo world and then you have Yeo/Henry starting with Leota/Patea bench for a year or two.

ANOTHER PENRITH SIGNING: The Panthers have signed Harry Armstrong, one of the most promising second-rower’s north of the border. The 190cm, 94kg, 20 year-old giant represented the Queensland Under 19 team last year and is highly regarded by Penrith officials . Having lost so

Good get. Another workhorse who loves a try.

Queensland Rugby League pathways and performance head coach Nathan Cross said Armstrong “epitomises what Queensland is all about”.

“Professional, very hard worker, great human… a super coachable player who will do anything for the team,” Cross said.

“Can play edge back row, middle or centre if needed and will not stop trying the entire time he is on the field.”

My count is 28 Panthers contracted to Top 30, 4 Supplementary Deals, Harry Armstrong would be a 5th though obviously no confirmation as to what deal he is on. Tom Jenkins is going to play in the Ron Massey Cup so he won't take a spot yet. I can't figure out what kind of deal Zach Clarke is on from the Tigers who joined this offseason - decent goal-kicking second-rower who is talented. Leaves 2 more guys for the Top 30, any rumours or guys seen at training that haven't been mentioned? Obviously Ausin Dias, David Fale, Jaxen Edgar also in the train & trial group but surely there are more players at training with the first team than that?

Current Supplementary players apparently are Billy Phillips, Billy Scott, Riley Price & Trent Toelau.

EDIT: I apologise, I see now that you mean Isaiah Scanlan. He was actually in the Panthers SG Ball squad in 2024, but injury kept him from appearing. I can see he did play a Sydney Shield game with St. Mary's this year, so not sure what the full story is there. He was very highly rated at Tweed and even just a year ago was named in the Emerging u19 QLD side (as a Panther). Pretty impressive group of youngsters.

That's Harry Armstrong who I mentioned, unless you mean another young forward from QLD even separate to him?

Sorry I was too dumb to realise that he was actually part of their team last year, I just presumed that he was just a new signing
