Will Patea ever be good enough? We all know Ivan has his favs but to continually picking Huth over him is pretty telling.

Patea is very young. Very young.. smith didmt really come into grade full time till he was 23.

Patea is 20.. will be 21 next season.. another year in cup getting his fitness and defence up will be the plan.

Hed be a great pick up then.

With martin being a 80min guy and papali able to play lomg mins on an edge we really need a good impact guy on the bench in both the prop and 2nd row roles.

Henry and smith are both the future and big mins guys so again i think another impact guy to go with patea is a must.

Id rather pay 250/300k to get a gun 17/18 junior then pay the same to get a has been guy thats just collecting a pay check.

Im not convinced this year is a write off..i think we can turn it around but the club must forward plan.

I think weve always been at our best with recruitment when we find those one or two jems to bring into the system at the right time. Kiks was the perfect example..the club didnt have anyone like him in the juniors so went out and got what was lacking.

Really need the club to fight off rah rah and lock in lemoto.

Leota is in the back end of his career. And our pack really lacks impact and x factor. We need a few young guys that offer that.

I think we have enough depth in the backs to be excited about. Alamonti and tago at their best a good nrl centres. Casey is going to be a great player. Jesse should be a good nrl player. Brian is still young. Theres decent back ups in the lower grades coming through for dyl.

Cole and blaize are both promising etc.

Just need to sort out the forwards. We dont have any guys capable of getting offloads at will or busting their nose through the line.
I agree with everything here except for Brian

I was going through the off contract list and found 4 other young forwards that could be potential buys instead of finau latu.
1. Michael Waqa
2. Josiah Pahulu
3. Tom Ale
4. Jamal Shibasaki

I’m sure as we move into a rebuild there will be limited acquisitions, unlikely to be any marquee signings, I think we will stay true to our strategic plan which is bringing thru from within for the most part.

Shibasaki looks the goods, but he's playing second row and we probably won't be looking to buy one with Armstrong, Clarke, Wigmore and maybe Lemoto already here.

at line of thinking may need to change given our ball and Matt’s team struggled. Not sure why no club is raiding the dogs juniors they are strong in all grades
Could it be the majic bag under the table no club can match the dogs with

He can’t crack the parra forwards Hindy is a better chance of first grade than wirumu

The modern game and quick play the balls have taken these big style forwards out of the game.
Whilst Grieg has a decent run game his defense isn't good enough for NRL.
The only forward I like in cup is Matalele. But he's been extended. Ryan Matterson is the guy you should get. I've gone and watched NSW CUP and he has put in 110% and by far the best on ground.
Attitude is an issue it seems but if took him now and his contract (650k next year )im sure that the Eels would chip in atleast a 200k plus this years basicaly paid for so it may cost you 600k total spread across the rest of this and next season.
He walks into your 17 and would be Parra top 3 forward still

Gus just doing his job and doing it pretty well.

Do you think they swooped and caught then off guard? I'm sure the Dragons knew he was off contract. The Knights offered him 400k a season. The Dogs obviously matched it.
They where going for Tuivati also but I think missed out.

Every year you want Penrith to sign Parra discards. If the bums aren't good enough for that organisation, they sure as f**k aren't good enough for ours.
