I would keep Edwards. He wouldn't be on a huge amount and he is solid. I don't see anything in Staines as fullback. Edwards to keep the spot for a year or two until the next superstar junior is ready... (who is that, BTW?)
I think your right mate the jury is still out on Charlie.

He has been scoring tries, but for for the most part they were just catch it and put it down.

We are yet to see the speed and maybe that is our attacking structures not creating space for him from further up the field but I don’t ever see him being better than Dylan in the fullback role.

By the way I’m not sure we have the next superstar fullback sorted just yet. We have a couple with potential although not sure whether Turuva or the others will graduate to NRL.

Tago is the best prospect coming through. In term of fullbacks I wouldn't say he's definitely going to be a superstar but the guy most people would answer with is this kid.

Personally there hasn't been in reserve grade going on for me to say. He's played some matches at centre which hasn't helped any judgements you can make on him as a fullback. He's Api's cousin. In highlights he also seems to be the most pumped and excited whenever the team scores which is a good indication of how someone who really cares about the team's success.

Daine Laurie. We've got him developing nicely at the Tigers...

Harsh. It was a choice between Staines and Laurie we went with Staines. If Laurie was still here, he would still be behind Dylan so fair play to Daine seeking his opportunity elsewhere. He has done great with the Tigers will go close to the man of the season. Good on him he’s done well.

Laurie is having a wonderful debut season for the Tigers. Doing a huge amount in defence. He shares some similarities to Edwards.

Staines is going to be a very different beast. I hope he kicks on because he'd make a wonderful fullback for us in red zone attack.

Personally I don’t ever see Charlie getting our full back gig.

Just me, maybe, but he just isn’t going to deliver the run metres required of the modern fullbacks.

He doesn’t offer much on his limited hit ups currently so I simply can’t see it changing if he was our fullback.

If we crave this ball playing fullback then frankly it is another no for Charlie. He offers nothing in the ball playing aspect.

His try scoring record is great, but 99% have been catch the ball and put it down over the line, he does that well.

Im not sure where we go with Charlie going forward, if he has terrific speed, we certainly aren’t taking full advantage of it. The Sea Eagles winger case in point, he has scored breathtaking tries based on pure speed, something we are yet to see from Charlie.

Laurie and Staines have very similar builds. Laurie 2 years older. I don't see a problem with run metres.

On ball playing I'd disagree. It hasn't been seen much on the wing but he has a great passing game. His acceleration and agility will create plenty of opportunities on the outside.

I think we have bet on the right horse between Laurie/Staines.

I can't see how any of us know what he is capable of. He has played one game at fullback. He has shown he has a good pass, anticipates the game well leading to tries and often shutting down attacks before they can start.

In his first proper season he is our top try scorer and averages 90m a game. Currently he sits at 20 tries in 20 games. I see people commenting all he has to do is catch the ball and fall over the line, even though Mansour didn't seem to be able to do that easily. No, he has to be in the right position to get the ball and give himself a chance to score, because he reads the game well, he makes that look easy.

In spite of the fact he is built like a brown snake, he doesn't mind taking the ball up and getting bashed and his tackles percentage is 80%. I would like to see him run from dummy half more to help the defence, with his acceleration he should be able to get cheap metres, but rucking the ball up like Too can wait until he has built up a bit more.

I would like to see what a fit Charlie Staines can do with a few extra kilos of muscle. It will give him more confidence and I hope the club also gets him a specialist sprint coach like Roger Fabri so he doesn't lose his speed and hopefully increases it.

If there is one area in our fitness training that seems to be lacking, it is in speed. You need specialist training to improve raw speed and none of our guys seem to be very quick. Charlie has shown glimpses, but only glimpses. Maybe Blade can answer whether we have a specialist sprint coach? Every player who spends time with Fabri ends up improving, do we have somebody like that at the Panthers?

Says a lot about who deserves credit at Panthers.

Haas, who tried to persuade Pangai to stay at Brisbane, predicted the star forward would boost Penrith's premiership prospects while improving his defence under Panthers assistant Cameron Ciraldo.

"Tevita is going to bring a lot to their team," Haas said. "He will bring that aggression and I think he will bring a bit more flair to their team, some more offloads and a bit more variety for them.

"We are close mates and he is like a brother to me but at the end of the day it is a business. I am happy for him that he has got his future sorted.

"I think him going to Penrith for the next few months will help him a lot, especially under a guy like Cam Ciraldo, who is a really good defence coach.

Watch the next Tigers game closely and watch where Daine does all his good stuff. 80% of it is around the ruck scaring tired forward and the ball playing he tends to be on the left edge (right to left the easiest direction to pass). Our job for our FB is to sit on right edge and be in place for when the halfback triggers the play first and foremost. Second is do the runs for the backs whenever a backs one out set is called and get in supporting in the ruck as a third thing when they can. Laurie's time spend where his strength is would be limited for us. And Staines is playing on the wing. For all we know Laurie would show just as much as Staines has shown playing on the wing for us.

The best FB for the way we play would ironically be a ball playing FB like Moylan with two strong out of our end wingers. Edwards and Laurie just aren't suited to the way we play from what I've seen. To suit our style we'd need someone with freakish ball playing like Moylan really comfortable throwing difficult passes left to right.

With Api's recent behaviour, I'd say that cuts a 1/3 of his next contract. Look at the haircut Vaughan took at the dogs for next year. In a strange and weird way this will help out cap.

Zero chance. Api's one of the best players in his position. Which is one of the most important positions in the team. His next contract will be bigger.

He still lives in Manly in an apartment they bought before he signed with you. No intentions of moving from what I hear. His wife is from the area and any chance he had of them leaving the area has probably gone up in smoke with his recent behaviour. They're also other reasons they probably won't leave the area which I won't get into.

A big money deal with a club closer to home seems very likely imo. Maybe Dogs might have another crack at him again.

All good valid points you make I think he will get extra and stay at Penrith .He has no problem with the travel and loves the club.He will get offered more but the difference we offer and what others offer will not be a great gap
