The big three, that we were confident of retaining two are leaving and Edwards remains unsigned. It hasn’t been a great post season given we were largely optimistic we could have retained all three, given what was suggested by those in power at the club. It is what is, we have no choice but to accept it and move on. It wouldn’t surprise me, if Dylan leaves as well particularly if the new club are struggling to secure a quality youngster, fullback, from with the SE Queensland catchment area. They could surely be capable of offering Dylan a contract to good to refuse if they are inclined. Much as I rate Dylan and hope he stays I guess there will be numerous other options for his position in 2023, perhaps more so than any other position.

Edwards was the one we could most easily afford to lose. So there's no chance he leaves.

As solid as he is at fullback. He's far from spectacular and there's no way he's going to get big offers.

Dylan’s not your million dollar fullback but he is better than a few who get paid more than he does, so I could see him an attracting offers in excess of $600k particularly from the Dolphins. While not a match winning ball playing superstar his other strong attributes are the equal of any fullback in the game.

Not impossible the Dolphins offer him something a little silly.

I know it was a troll, but if we did lose Edwards I’d love to see us get Daine Laurie back like Ryhno suggested.

I read we were perhaps offering Dylan Edwards a two year deal, not a huge show of faith so cant really blame him looking to secure a larger, longer deal, if one eventuates. His next may have to be his best and biggest, given his injury issues and overall abilities. His next couple of years are likely to be his best if he stays injury free, not likely to get better as he approaches the big 30.

lots of average players win premierships, its rare to have a star studded lineup.

If May was a better than average player he’d have other clubs chasing him, the reality is the Panthers are his only option in the NRL. It’s why he took the one year deals on offer.
That might be because his name is mud in the media and therefore with sponsors, who run this game. Israel Folou was a very talented player but he was off limits as well. In addition, I doubt he wants to play for another club, he loves this club.

He's not a superstar by any means and certainly never commanded superstar money but he is a niche player and as has been pointed out there aren't many like him around in this era of specialisation. Seems like a bargain at $250k or so.

I do like Edwards, he is a good human overall. But if he does go, I would really love to see Turuva unleashed.
He really isn’t the finished product. He has a lot of work to do before he can be considered a starting fullback. Has potential, might get there but definitely a work in progress.

Folau was off limits by the NRL HQ, there were plenty of clubs that wanted him.

They manoevred it well. St George Bank (Westpac) put the kybosh on Folou at the Dragons (it was reported), and having done so no-one else tried it on. NRL management distanced themselves which they had to do really to keep out of court, it being doubtful they could lawfully exclude him. Much better if no club wants him. Seems to me pretty much the same situation now with Tyrone. His name is mud with sponsors, who tell clubs what to do in return for a few pieces of silver.

V’Landys gave a strong indication he wouldn’t register a contract, that would‘ve sent a pretty clear signal to clubs not to bother. It’s a fair bit different than May who still had a contract registered after his guilty verdict.

If a bench utility is so key, and they’re so rare, a club would’ve taken a chance on May.

Spectacular is overrated. While Edwards received his ring having played a significant role in the win with a broken foot, Turbo, Teddy, Paps, Latrell, Gutho, Hynes and all the other spectacular fullbacks watched on from home.

Vlandys would change his tune considerably over the ensuing 18 months. Probably on the advice of his legal eagles.

Quite apart from trumpeting his inclusivity in the same breath as excluding someone from the game. Not his finest moment.

Also, Folou had Clive Palmer financing any possible legal action. I found the whole thing ironic, Palmer was coerced into paying his employees their wages, however, he is willingly sticking his noses into other issues.

Where is that nuffy Rhyno bagging us over losses and signings
Parra let a gun 23 year old hooker go to sign a guy who in 2023 will be 32

And if we had the super stars at fullback who would we lose to keep them under the cap.edwards slides in well and does not cost that much cap area to others
