I’d love him to turn out great, but as I said earlier, think Jack Gosiewski. He’s a goer, but whilst he’s 6ft 3inch tall, he’s not got the physical build (he’s 102kg) to be explosive strength, and he’s not particularly quick.

He wouldn’t get a game in our current 17 (or 19).

FFS it is not happening for another whole season, we have the next off season to get through yet.

Dead set these long off contract signings with all clubs gives me the shits.

It makes sense for Hannay to grab these guys. Wish Jensen Taumoepeau all the best as well.

I like that we have bought the Pom. They would have done their research as they don't bring just anyone in. Hopefully it works out well for both parties.

Be interesting to see the data on Trout, A lot of premier league clubs use a date driven method when signing players from lower leagues.
I would think that it would transition to League

Trout are popular, cold-water salmonid fish (primarily Oncorhynchus and Salmo genera) introduced to Australian streams and lakes in the late 19th century. Key species include Rainbow and Brown trout, which are prized by recreational anglers for their fighting qualities, particularly in Victoria and NSW. They prefer cool, clear, oxygenated water and are often found in upland rivers and lakes, with sizes commonly under 3 kg in Australia, though they can grow much larger.

The rainbow trout, would have been reason Manly didn't sign him

NRLW news, so anyone who doesn't want to know look away now......

Emma Verran is off to another club next year.
It makes sense, they have to progress as a team and there are too many younger options available.
As she is preggers it means she has played her last game for the Sharks. Apparently she will move on to another club, presumably it will be to the little sister.

Just on the Trout signing, whilst I clearly don’t think he’ll be a starter, as I’ve reflected on the signing, hitting up English players to fill out squad spots is actually a good idea.

The average salary in Superleague is £65k per year, so $125k, so pretty much the minimum NRL salary. I highly doubt Trout would have been on much more than the average Super League salary, so you’re getting a decent squad player at bargain basement price. I’ll bet Trout will be on a good bit less than say as Gosiewski.

Recruiting half decent players from Super League as squad men is a great way to fill the squad out with lower tier salaries, freeing up cap space for the elite players.

Trout would be on a bit more than an average Super League contract now he's an English International.

Most premier league clubs have 10 plus guys in their data department and they gather all sorts of data on their own leagues and European leagues to aid in transfers etc.One interesting aspect that could help with a league salary cap is they collect data on undervalued players(including their own).
The theory is to Value what the players real worth is compared to how flashy or awkward they come across as.
I don’t know how many guys are in our data section but I always notice the guy in the coaches box with the laptop.Im guessing some clubs have a number of these guys in their data section are in the background (somewhere at the club)but I’m not sure.

Well the club have already lost her for this year because of her pregnancy. I'm pretty sure the line up for this year is the one they will be looking forward to the coming years.
Her best position is Fullback, the Sharks had her at 5/8 so they could have Jada Taylor in the team.
Taylor is 22, Verran will be 31 in a month, meaning when she returns next year she will be 32. Will she still have all her skills and speed?
I'd say yes, but by then the Sharks will have Hannaway permanently at 5/8, who is 25, and Chantay Kiria Ratu at Halfback, who is 22.
Add in Quincy Dodd at hooker, who is 25, and it becomes more obvious that they are looking at the future spine and how it will settle in this year.
Our late great mate, Frenzy, really rated Hannaway at 5/8 and after her efforts last year I see the need to keep her going forward.

It is good to see the club putting emotion aside in their decision and acting professionally. I say that because Verran also works for the Sharks, and was their very first signing when they were entering the comp.

I'm watching this vid and really only seeing Trout for the first time clearly.
Just off it I can see a bit of Billy Burns about his play.
So now I'm taking an uneducated guess and say that Burns has been offered a pretty good deal somewhere else (Bears?), and the Sharks were in the need for a similar player, for a similar wage that Burns is on now, to replace him.
Keywords highlighted.

It would be interesting I agree Brighton are experts in it.

But what they do is they sell you part of the data system, so if your a lower league team, you can buy part of it to scout obviously at cheaper value.
It's a great way to get players on the cheap, I am surprised it's not used a lot more in the NRL
