Parra just wanted an acceptable player compensation. Storm just wanted to steam roll over the top of them an just give them some money which they have buckets of.

I’m not a fan of the person Lomax is but he is a gun winger. Would he improve us? Shyte yeah. Will it happen? Doubt it.

Why would Parra push back so hard but then potentially allow him to join another club anyway? Doesnt make much sense. I’d be very surprised if we got him.
because they agreed to let him (origin player) out of his deal to play another sport (magic bean footy)
the other sport didnt eventuate (shocker!)

it was the deal they made and he agreed to. he made this bed.
im sure if the storm hadn't been agitating behind the scenes to get a resolution in their favour. Or provided one of the players they asked for in return it would have worked
The Storm got what they deserved here IMO. nothing now

I reckon there’s some fairly juicy and incriminating material in the texts/emails of Storm or NRL - Storm have capitulated at the last moment, they’re paying everyone’s legal costs, for no return.
The Eels have played this perfectly in my opinion, and made the game stronger for it. They were quite happy to go to Court and air the dirty laundry, clearly Storm were not happy to do that.

It becomes even more obvious that’s the case when you hear what the Storm were offering the Eels at the final stages;

Flat out $750k transfer fee - rejected by Eels

or

Take Ryan Matterson at full freight ($470k I think they said), plus something like $200kTransfer fee - Eels accepted this, but Matterson refused to go

Now, Lomax is good, but he ain’t worth either of those offers above. Someone clearly has something to hide for the Storm to have made those offers. If you consider the second option, and say Zak was going to be paid even just $700k, with Mattersons contract included (and presuming they wouldn’t play him, because he’s shite), they’d have been paying over a million on the cap for Lomax, plus a $200k fee. Madness.

The Eels rejecting the $750k fee also shows this is all about principle, and that they know they’ve got either the Storm or the NRL (or maybe both), by the short and curly’s. There’s no way Melbourne/Lomax are settling for the deal they’ve done if not, they’d chance their arm in Court. They 100% did not want their laundry aired.

Also, he chooses not play (when given the opportunity), I can’t imagine him enjoying the Melbourne culture around hard work and mentality.

And the Storm obviously don’t really rate him. (Matterson) They were prepared to cop the bum for one season to get Lomax to the Club but the thought of putting up with him for two seasons on decent coin they couldn’t stomach.
