Not exactly. So the story goes is that Garth Brennan had a two year contact with a clause that he was guaranteed a third year if they made the finals in their second year. The third year would otherwise be the clubs option. When Mal Meninga was brought on board Brennan complained to the club that would make him lame duck status so the club took the finals clause out to ease the tensions. It's essentially forced Brennan being paid out the third year if they let him go which for some other clubs they wouldn't blink but for the cash strapped Titans it's not something they can really afford to be doing.
Mal seems very good at getting sweet short term deals on loads of cash with little accountability. Bloke could do well in politics....oh, hang on!
Solomone Kata (Warriors) and Max King (Titans) -------> Melbourne Storm. This has a domino effect on the Scott Drinkwater -------> NQ Cowboys signing possibly now happening before June 30 as Melbourne stated they would not release him early unless they were able to sign a replacement back (Kata).

Bulldogs set to make Latrell Mitchell a 10 year, 11 million dollar offer from 2021: https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...l/news-story/ad2d483e51d449e6c7e9b264f2e8260e
11m over 10 years for a centre. What could go wrong? This is why the Bulldogs are where they are on the ladder. NFI.
Now that back loading is banned the dogs are looking for another way to f**k their cap up. Honestly the NRL should just refuse to register such a contract. It's a disaster in the making.
SMH are reporting 5 year $5mil A bit more feasible. Any mother club I’d suggest good move, but Bulldogs is where players go to stagnate
Despite the sheer Lunacy of this by the dogs at least it forces the roosters to offer closer to market value on the cap for one of their players Uncle nick won’t like been strong armed Luke this
Nice work Doggies- force Rorters to pay full freight & at the same time continue your crash & burn madness cap management style by paying peers for a pretty over-rated centre with a cloud of off field issues building. Lock up your cap into your 3/4 line when you're already in a big hole with unreliable halves, a poor squad all on overs & a misfiring forward pack. Smart.
I don’t get it. Dogs have screamed they have no cap room(for another couple of years I’m sure I’ve heard)& now this. Gary McIntyre must be back on the scene.
