Interesting they've gone from "Can't afford him" to "Can now afford him" in the space of 24 hours. JFH going back to Sydney surely wouldn't have any impact on their salary cap would it?

If we can get the deal done and be salary cap compliant it will be a great move. I'll believe it when it becomes official though.

Surely Brisbane gain something out of this, it doesn't really make sense otherwise.
Whatever they save on TPJ’s salary for the remainder of the season gets added to their 2022 cap. Basically any underspend this year is offset against 2022.
So, if they manage to offload TPJ and Milf for the last quarter of the year, they might save $250k on salaries this year. That then gives them an extra $250k added on to next years salary - could be the difference maker when chasing high value targets for next year.
This is one of the issues with the late deadline - top teams will go looking for talent from teams that can no longer make finals, and the bottom teams will be happy to offload high value players (particularly ones that are leaving at end of year anyway) to build a kitty for the following year when they’re back in with a chance. Essentially the bottom teams are better off writing off the current season and creating cap space for next year - creates an even bigger gap between top and bottom teams and really corrupts the integrity of the competition, as those teams who are scheduled to play the bottom teams in last quarter of the season get an even easier ride. Needs moving back to a June deadline ASAP.

Panthers sat cap space aside to sign another forward. This was known in the off-season. We lost James Tamou, Zane Tetevano and Jack Hetherington replacing them with fringe first graders leaving our pack with a fringe first grader even at full strength. It was originally Matt Eisenhuth. Now it's Scott Sorrensen. But once JFH is back in the team it will be TPJ on our bench instead.

The only reason we couldn't afford it a few days ago was our plans had changed to bringing guys payments forward into this years cap to give us some relief next year.

Our priority changed with JFH leaving the bubble for the birth of his child and missing a minimum of 3 weeks before being able to play again. If he wasn't going to miss a few weeks we wouldn't have bothered risking it and would have used the cap space for next season.

Looking forward to a lazy TPJ arm grab on the line against the Storm in the GF at a crucial point. It should offset being belted the week prior somewhat.

The Pangai one to me is the most intriguing, on his day there aren't many better.. yet the club is super keen to let him go and I can only imagine we will be paying some of the contract to where ever he ends up, it's not a football ability thing it's obviously an attitude they're not happy with.

Maybe they are hoping that he gets a contract upgrade, in that situation I believe the new club has to pay him in full, as it would be a new deal.

He has ability but he's been a liability within the squad. Better off getting merkins with a little less ability but will give you effort in everything he does - like Capewell. A shit vibe can can run through a young group, and a leader demonstrating effort in everything he does can do.

well you’ve at least made the people more accepting of watching back to back storm premierships.

so for that the people thank you
No one wants that.

I personally think the rule that allows it to happen is stupid. But, when in Rome.

You guys set the benchmark for this bullshit with the SBW shitshow anyway. Uncle Nick will have made a few calls trying to do something similar.
