Why is it that star players and even fringe players from Storm and Broncos, that attract interest from other clubs, remain at the Storm and Broncos? No other clubs can lure these players away. On top of that, these two clubs manage to add rep level players to their squad.

But Panthers have had to say goodbye to about 10 NRL players in the past 4 years, because Penrith couldn't keep them within the cap. How is it even possible and why isn't any journalist writing articles on this, nor NRL actually asking some questions?
lol such a dumb post. Storm lost plenty of players. Hynes, JAC, Bromwich, Kaufusi, Finucane, B.Smith, Bromwich, R.Smith, Olam, Vunivalu, Atkinson,Lee, King, Tino. Imagine sooking over unconfirmed Tyran Wishart reports.

Ok, but how does that list of players compare with Korisau and Luai - two elite spine position players? Burton, Crichton, Kikau, JFH,, Leniu, Turuva?

Storm have somehow managed to retain their entire spine for a long time, and add pieces around it.

If you believe Fox Ponga has apparently wanted out of the Knights for the past 7 years despite signing multiple extensions in that time lol. It’s their favourite story.
And his greedy daddy probably leaked the story to them every singe time

^^ Good moves by both clubs.

Klemmer and Ravalawa are capable players and they fill roster holes for both clubs. I just don't think that the Dragons will let Ravalawa play against them this week. But it would make for good theatre if they let it happen.
The Dragons should be doing everything in their power to have Rava line up against them this weekend.

Moving from one Sydney club to another is such a nothing affair it's really not comparable.

Storm lost more players than the Panthers did between the 2020 and 2024 Grand Finals but now you've changed the goalposts to how it's about the quality of the players.

Well, that's because Panthers players were demonstrably better than the Storm players for the past 4 years. You know, hence the 4peat.

It's a valid point. The Storm (and Brisbane) rarely lose their high quality players, but I think the purple f**ks would be mind bogglingly stupid to be cheating the cap again. Well, aside from in the way everyone else does, anyway.

They're a successful team in a one team capital city with a coach who basically gives them all high level Stockholm syndrome. That also comes with a lot of TPA advantages over, say, Wests, but I don't think they're doing anything the rest aren't.

They'll still always be cheats ofc.

Everything is about the quality of players. Why wouldn't it be? ' the Panthers lost JFH, Spencer and Api' ... 'yeah but the Storm lost Adam Blair' ... oh no, the poor Storm.

It is possible to objectively look at a few sides and question the cap management. Storm have million dollar players in every position in the spine. Not only do they manage to keep them but they can add players around them. But I guess you and others are right to dismiss my opinion. Afterall there is no history of shitbaggery with salary cap. But seriously as bazal states it's nothing that other clubs aren't also doing, maybe other clubs aren't doing it as well or blatantly as they are?

Broncos are pretty stacked too. Elite level spine, aside from hooker but throw in expensive players like Haas, Carrigan and Staggs and then added Hunt. Surely questions need to be asked?

It's really not a valid point. The Storm's team make-up is a lot different to the Panthers. They spend serious $$$ on the spine and little elsewhere, comparably. A strategy my team is about to try starting next year. They're going to do everything they can to keep them, just like Panthers will do the same for their most important players that have been there for all 5 GFs - Cleary, Yeo, To'o etc. Storm would lose their entire spine before Panthers lost Cleary or Yeo.

Panthers have lost great players because they've been a great team across the board. Generally when you're winning competition after competition, the players you lose aren't going to be lesser quality because there are very few lesser quality players to be losing.

As of 2024 GF they had less turnover than Storm so the argument really is baseless.

*sigh*

People are talking about teams cheating the cap and not mentioning the roosters. We really are up shit creek this year

Speaking of the Roosters…anyone else think it’s highly suspicious they’ve lost all these players without replacing them and yet apparently must still be spending 97% of their cap? You’re seriously telling me that all the players they lost were only taking up 3% of the cap? Very shady…
