I think the Raiders did want him for 1 year, were kinda ok with 2 as long as it was closeish to backup half money. But couldn't do 3 without losing that certain young half.

I'll believe it when I see it. Daniel Tupou is close to retirement, and Mark Nawaqanitawase will probably be his successor at left wing. Young played well last year, but his decision making has been ordinary this year, which is why he was dropped. I can see him being a long term fixture in the Roosters backline in the future.

Tupou's last season will apparently be next season, not that I particularly agree with playing a 34-35 year old winger but odds are he'll be left wing in 2026 with Dom Young and Mark N battling it out for that last wing spot.

I like Dom Young but at 600k a season I feel like we could take half that and spend it on a dependable back up depth player and put the rest towards something else instead of keeping Young and playing him in reserve grade.

I'd say better than Reynolds to be honest. Fogarty is younger and less injury prone.

It's not on the same level but this has Reynolds from Souths vibes. Don't come at me, I don't mean it's the same, but Raiders are letting a 31-year-old, dead-eye goalkicking, proven NRL grade playmaker go for unproven talent. Talent has to come through, I get it. But if I'm Ricky and I think I can win a premiership in the next 2-3 years (which he should) then no way I'm letting Fogarty go.

Our offer was 500k and it was reported (by a Newy journalist so biased obviously) the Roosters offer was higher.
