NRL should be enforcing that Lomax should not be able to join another NRL team until his contract with Parramatta ends in 2028, or until there is a time that Parramatta decide to voluntarily withdraw the clause that Lomax cant sign with another team before the 2029 season.

go play Rugby or go play in the ESL - if no one wants ya Zac - thats on you mate

actions have consequences - dont let the door hit ya on the way out

Tbh the only thing the NRL should be saying is "Parramatta and Zac Lomax reached a release agreement privately and mutually. It is not for the NRL to comment on private agreements or to involve itself in any dispute that might arise from such an agreement."

That's it. That's the facts

Be interesting to see what the exact terms of the release are. My understanding of it without actually seeing it is that he obviously can’t play for another NRL club.

People seem to be hung up on the idea oh well Parra don’t want him so they should just let him go play for Melbourne as the release is void, however that’s not what Parra and lomax agreed on and if they want him back is irrelevant. The condition was clearly done to prevent this exact situation from happening. Lomax can go play whatever sport he wants in any part of the world it just won’t be the NRL unless Parra agree.

Well the agreement was that Parra must agree to any terms if he is playing for a NRL club. There are transfer fees if he finds another Union club as well.

That Parra are waiting to see if someone else might offer something better, or Melbourne decide to offer something that interests Parra is just what it is. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bears enter the race and work out a way for him to play this year. All they can offer is cash, but that's worth more than another cash offer a club could offer as it wouldn't come out of this next year salary cap.

Really comes down to how committed Lomax is to R360.

I think the whole concept of R360 being delayed for a year is absolute horse shit. It is simply a tactic by the R360 organizers to go away quietly rather than announce that they are gone. If the Storm sign him, I doubt Bellamy would waste his time to do it for just one year or so.

I'd be disgusted if the NRL intervened with this one and forced Parra to take some sort of deal that they are not happy with. Lomax is a grown man who had fully aware representation when he signed the conditions for the release. Parra had every right to protect themselves for not wanting to weaken themselves to strengthen a rival.

I hope they sue the NRL if this happens.

It's just being delayed till after the Rugby Union world cup. Whether it gets up or not is another thing. But plenty of players towards the end of their careers would put there hands up for one last payday. Honestly it can only hurt Union. I don't see it attracting the best of the best, and even if it did, the format of a magic weekend in various cities just doesn't work.

The delay was a pretty embarrassing look for them. Nothing about that comp is locked in. It is so easy for them to "pull the pin". I believe they are just going away quietly and trying to save face by not saying the idea will not start.

This is all getting way too messy. I’d prefer it if Storm pulled the pin on it.

Happy we gave it a crack but at the end of the day he made his bed and if Eels don’t want to budge then that’s their right!
Good thing is eels have got one of the best lawyers in Arthur Moses going around , by the time he's finished it probably won't only be lomax who ends up with egg on his face

At the very least , this legal case will go a long way to settling the idea that players hold all the cards over employers & what is a restraint of trade.
There are people saying Parramatta can't prevent him from earning a living , & it appears to be the same people who said the NRL couldn't slap 10 year bans on players signing with R360 ,
this case might sort a bit of that out.

If the release prevented him from playing any professional sport, he might have a legal leg to stand on. Thing is he could go play in the ESL, or play union or another professional sport to earn a living. That's why I expect the eels will be successful in court.

Going overseas is not a reasonable expectation though. Things change. He could argue in this period he needs to be near family and friends, rather than trying his hand to further his career outside Australia. Whilst R360 was a thing, and the conditions were very favourable with how they outlined it, that you could still base yourself in your home country, length of competition (8 weeks plus finals) etc, that is not the same with what the alternate overseas options provide.

Why I said it's unlikely Parra will be successful, is because they are asking for a player in return. That is something Lomax cannot make happen, and is unreasonable. I'm sure eventually they will come to terms with a cash settlement, and that will be the end of it all.

if they wanted a cash settlement, it would of been sorted by now.

Parra don't want or need cash, a transfer payment does nothing to improve the squad which the club want and entitled to have.

Similar to my response in the other thread, this is based on misconception.

Parra aren't asking anything of Lomax. They're attempting to negotiate permission with his prospective employer, and vice versa
