Some of the (reported) player salaries really surprise me. $800k+ for lodge, DWZ, brooks, Townsend etc. whereas $700k or less for a reynolds, Payne Haas, gutho, etc.

Maybe the big name agents are worth it? But seems unbelievable what some players can fetch.

When the Tigers resigned brooks in 2018 it was widely reported it was for $550-$600k. Since then the DT have inflated it every year to around $800-$900k to suit their agenda

Re DWZ when he left the Panthers he was a done deal to the Tigers, however Phil Gould (this is directly from his mouth, or rather Twitter) sat him down and convinced him to join the Bulldogs as they’re a great club and anyone should go there if they get a chance.

You could almost guarantee Brooks contract is around $600K base with probably a lot of incentives baked in for things like making Origin, Dally M halfback of the year or playing finals that could possibly take it up to around $800K. The hacks in the media purposely distort to make it look like that is his full contract.

You should send him a case of whiskey in thanks.

Claims circulating that Kurt Capewell has agreed to terms with the Broncos for 3 years. Seems he hasn't signed yet so the Panthers will have a chance to match the offer when he returns next week. I doubt we can match their offer with the clean out they're having, it just depends what his priorities are, money or playing with a well-run and successful club. I thought he might be waiting for the Brisbane 2 announcement.

He seems the sort of bloke who takes what he can get.

Rumour circulating that TPJ to the dragons. Potential Jordan pereira swap.
Courier Mail suggest that Tevita Pangai Jnr is also receiving interest from the Bulldogs and the Titans. But they list the Tigers as the front runner. The don't mention the Dragons in the article. But they do advise that the Titans would struggle with salary cap space to compete with the Bulldogs and the Tigers.

Shaun Johnson to the Warriors on a two year deal. It is a bit of a shock as only three months ago Warriors senior players had a emphatic NO to bringing back Johnson. I've read around the traps Johnson with a young family wanted to go back to New Zealand.

It also opens the potential option of Kodi Nikorima departing. He has a opt out clause that he can leave if he finds a QLD club that will take him. Its been reported the Gold Coast Titans have shown some interest.

It feels like the Tigers get linked with almost any off contract/early released player and then the Tigers are almost used as a bargaining chip to tell other clubs that come on the scene they need to exceed. Hopefully the Tigers are not keen on TPJ, and go all in on Finucane. They need the latter more than the former at their club...

You could probably say the same for most of the bottom feeder clubs. We are all in the same situation. Need better players, even if they are ones that aren't making a difference at their current club.

hopefully the opposite for the Knights. We need TPJ and don’t need Finucaine.
