Come on Yosh, you've been around long enough to know how things work around here.

Garrick comes here with his 80% goal kicking rate and 1 of 2 things will happen;

1. He plays a handful of games before a season ending injury.

2. He forgets how to kick and has a 72% conversion rate.
TBF I’d take no.2 over what we’ve had over the last 3-4 seasons.

I'll be honest I'm not the biggest fan of bringing Garrick here as a fullback. For me he is a "fine" fullback. Nothing special but will hold his own. 1 on 1 is a concern but hopefully we don't find ourselves in that situation all too often.

But I guess it's easier to move Ponga, get a solid fullback than it is to find an NRL standard half.

If it was my call it would be Dylan Edwards all day. He would be legend at this club by the time he retired. A fit AF and tough as nails competitor.

LOL! Probably ACL first day of pre season training.

I honestly expect Klemmer to extend and restructure. He doesn’t want to leave, is still a valuable squad member, and I reckon if he can finish his career here he takes a lot less for stability.
If he does one of the Safs has to become a backrower or else leave. We are unfortunately carrying two legacy rep contracts with Friz and Klem. Noone saw J saf playing SOO this year as a remote possibility. Automatic big pay rise. I know Jacob is wearing the 13 out of necessity but if he plans to stay there then his ballwork has to be the main focus of Summer. It is the only way to keep all three of the big boppers here together.

i know it’s crazy talk but you can start 3 props if your spine is competent. Lots of teams do it, Josh King (remember him, not good enough for us) and Dale Finucaine are both out and out middles with minimal ball playing skills, for example.

This ball playing 13 role is nothing new. It has been a thing on-and-off since the 80’s (that I have witnessed personally, except they wore the 8), and i am sure prior.

It’s a luxury which teams have.

Unfortunately, we don’t even have a 6 or 7 that can adequately ball play. I’d settle for that, in lieu.

Bingo. For as long as I've watched the game at least - the 13 has always been a very flexible position on the field. Different coaches use it different ways depending on the tools available to them. The good coaches, typically speaking, work within the restraints of what they have available to them. The bad coaches try to force their players to play a certain preconceived way.

or try to manufacture a 13 out of a “spine player” too shit to actually play in the spine…

Fair point. the greatest lock ever to play the game (IMO) was essentially an edge middle forward with the greatest tackling technique i have ever seen. Bradley Clyde. When he hit a player they felt it every time. His ball playing skill was not his strongest point. Did not matter. He redefined how edge forwards played forever.

You could be right. His meetings elsewhere could be just a ploy.
