? I know there is no credit for the following year but if u are under this year all told your baseline starts below the following year.

I do not see the point of risking a 2+ year deal on a half that may or may not work out when we have 4 potential halves and a guy on 600k coming off contract next year. There is no point spending more next year on halves as we will not get elite in Pearce and Cronk wont cone here.

If that is not how the cap works tell me different....

If you are under in 2018 your "baseline" is not effected in 2019 mate. I'm not sure what you are trying to say as your sentence structure doesn't even make sense

He’s saying that we should maybe consider not going all out for signings to leave some room under the cap to make a play for someone if we need to in the future.

Everyone knows the money saved in one year in the cap doesn’t transfer to the next. That’s not what pedge is saying

Saifitis extend until 2020

The nib Newcastle Knights are pleased to announce Daniel and Jacob Saifiti have extended their contracts with the Club for an additional two years.

The 21-year old twins, who both made their NRL debuts in Round 1 in 2016, were originally signed until the end of season 2018 but have agreed to a two-year extension, keeping them at the Club until the end of 2020.

Still just in the early stages of their NRL careers, 2017 was an outstanding year for the Saifiti brothers.

“We are delighted to be able to secure Daniel and Jacob at the Club for another two years,” General Manager Football Darren Mooney said.

“They have both had an impressive year and I’m certain they will continue to improve and develop their games.

“Their dedication and leadership as young players is an asset to the team and they’ll be an integral part of the Club’s future.”

Daniel, who plays in the front row, has made 43 NRL appearances and took out Newcastle’s 2017 Players’ Player award.

“The Club has shown faith in us and hopefully we can repay that,” Daniel said.

“We have been here for two years and I can’t imagine being anywhere else.”

Jacob has made 39 NRL appearances and will represent Fiji in the upcoming Rugby League World Cup.

“I’m excited to play with a lot of new signings next season who can bring that experience that we need,” Jacob said.

“We have a strong side on paper and hopefully we’ll have a good couple of years ahead of us.”

This is excellent cap management. We couldn’t afford to lose them in 2019 as that is potentially a big year for us where we can make a bit of a finals push. To have a big market frenzy over these 2 at the end of next season would be bad.

Yep. Wighton as a centre or one of their big front rowers preferably Paulo.

Sadly it looks like they are aiming up Joey (no thanks) and Baptiste..

Wighton at centre would be a good get. Joey can take a pay cut and f-off to another club, I'm not having him back here after the way he left.

Or one of their front rowers would do very nicely, Paulo or Boyd woud be massive for us.
