Saifitis extend until 2020
The nib Newcastle Knights are pleased to announce Daniel and Jacob Saifiti have extended their contracts with the Club for an additional two years.
The 21-year old twins, who both made their NRL debuts in Round 1 in 2016, were originally signed until the end of season 2018 but have agreed to a two-year extension, keeping them at the Club until the end of 2020.
Still just in the early stages of their NRL careers, 2017 was an outstanding year for the Saifiti brothers.
“We are delighted to be able to secure Daniel and Jacob at the Club for another two years,” General Manager Football Darren Mooney said.
“They have both had an impressive year and I’m certain they will continue to improve and develop their games.
“Their dedication and leadership as young players is an asset to the team and they’ll be an integral part of the Club’s future.”
Daniel, who plays in the front row, has made 43 NRL appearances and took out Newcastle’s 2017 Players’ Player award.
“The Club has shown faith in us and hopefully we can repay that,” Daniel said.
“We have been here for two years and I can’t imagine being anywhere else.”
Jacob has made 39 NRL appearances and will represent Fiji in the upcoming Rugby League World Cup.
“I’m excited to play with a lot of new signings next season who can bring that experience that we need,” Jacob said.
“We have a strong side on paper and hopefully we’ll have a good couple of years ahead of us.”
