I don't think you're directly responding to me but who is harsh on players who have moved on and shown to be better than we thought? Good on them. That's a reflection on how poor we are, that we couldn't get the best out of them.
Don’t like being called out but truth is this one was in response to Slots comment he has been very negative of past players who apparently play well in good systems, unfortunately we are not a good system but the quality of the player is the same and criticism should be of our system not past players.
Sorry Slots if I have offended

Yes Brown is the better option for sure. With Mitchell Moses you get a halfback who's got a solid all-round skill set but he's hit his ceiling imo and I can't see him getting much better. Dylan Brown is younger and is already one of the best no.6s in the comp and still plenty of room to improve.

That being said, we do need an organizer with a good kicking game and Moses does provide that (good goal kicker too) so wouldn't be upset if we got him, but he'd be looking for big dollars I imagine so I'm not sure I'd want us paying massive money for a guy who's hit his ceiling already.
On Moses, i don't think it matters if he has hit his ceiling or not, to me it would be about if we believe he is the organising half we want going forward if we were to go after him. Moses will definitely improve us massively

He's playing in the best rugby league system in history.

If the knights were to sign him he'd be just as bad as when we sent him packing.
Meaney was good when he was here, just didn't get much of an opportunity because of Ponga being our fullback. From memory we wanted to keep him, but he only left because there was a firstgrade spot for him at the Bulldogs

Anyone want to take a stab at the 27/30 of our top 30 for next year?

for mine Saulo is a keep, but we must have a half dozen that aren’t.

What happened to Hastings? I thought we were looking at him? I reckon he is a better gamble than Gamble.

1. Garrick
6. Ponga
7. Hastings
9. Brailey
13. Elliot
14. Clifford

That is feasible, won't break the bank and is balanced.

Clifford has more talent but his good and bad games are too far apart. He also disppears during games which you can't afford any half or 5/8 doing.

Gamble has less talent and always puts in his best effort.. He wont go missing in games and the difference between his good and bad games is not too far apart, i admit thats because the talent isn't as good. He should also keep the rest of the team accountable for theirperformances.

So i'd be more inclined to take Gamble over Clifford because you know what you'll get from Gamble each week which then makes it easier to set up game plans and structures.

Hastings is still the better option of all 3 players though

Really surprised not many don’t see the qualities Gamble can bring to the team and how it could be beneficial.

For mine he is the perfect bridge player next year while we keep an eye on the market and try lure someone better here in 2024.

I really don’t think Gamble will lose any fans with the way he would play for us. It’ll be super refreshing having a confident no nonsense hard nosed loud half at the club again.

I reckon the disruptions to his season hasn't helped and he has more to offer.
For sure. The gamble however is how do we know next years distractions don’t ruin his entire season again?

Unfortunately Clifford has had enough time in the NRL now to work things out and I’m afraid he’ll never find consistency at a high enough level.

Would love to be proven wrong btw.

So is an absent Clifford.
Neither player is an ideal option but Gamble whilst a different type of player doesn’t have the skill set to be an NRL standard half.

He’s not any better than Clune and Clifford at his best is miles ahead of him as player. If we sign Gamble to be a first choice half we won’t be finishing any higher than we do this year.

For me this isn’t all about the skill. We’ve been asking for leaders and while he isn’t coming here to be captain, he is a guy that will be vocal and fire up the players around him. That’s what excites me, not him doing a cutout pass or kicking 40/20s.

These are the 27 signed for next year by all accounts, and they're trying to get KPP early and Brooks/another half to make 29. Seem to always go into the season with 29 in case someone pops up before the deadline.

Adam Clune
Adam Elliott
Bailey Hodgson
Bevan French
Bradman Best
Brodie Jones
Chris Randall
Dane Gagai
Daniel Saifiti
David Klemmer
Dominic Young
Dylan Lucas
Enari Tuala
Hymel Hunt
Jack Hetherington
Jack Johns
Jacob Saifiti
Jake Clifford
Jayden Brailey
Kalyn Ponga
Krystian Mapapalangi
Kurt Mann
Lachlan Fitzgibbon
Leo Thompson
Mat Croker
Simi Sasagi
Tyson Frizell

Luke Brooks
Kai Pearce-Paul

I'd like to tell about a third of the squad their services are no longer required but unfortunately it doesn't work that way, someone else needs to be willing to pick up their deal. They've carried Musgrove for a few years now for example... And you need someone to replace them, the 2023 cupboard is looking emptier by the day.
