Good outcome all round IMO. He’s a pure fullback and deserves to be able to show that.

I was sceptical about us resigning him as I don’t think he’s a winger.

This way we also don’t need to watch him carve up for another NRL club.

Yes best thing for Armstrong and Knights, 3 years he will still have years left in him for return if desired.
never liked the idea of converting him to wing

Yeah, we just have no need for him and I wish him all the best in the ESL. He'll go really well over there.

Fletcher deserves to hold the fullback spot after this move by Armstrong. Injury or no injury. Cannot see AOB moving him until KP returns. And if Crossland moves to lock as he should, perhaps Fletcher to the 14 becomes an option.

The Armstrong injury story was pretty sus. Had a shocker against the Dogs but finished the game healthy, Toohey immediately starts saying he thinks Sharpe will replace him, and the coach gets up at the presser and basically says he thinks Armstrong needs a break. Then all of a sudden late in the week they decide the reason he's out is actually an extremely minor injury he picked up at training. Not saying it's impossible but it's certainly convenient timing.

Doesn't really help the optics that he immediately asked for and has been granted a release from the brand new deal he signed either. Sounds like something more went on behind the scenes to me.

Not too bummed about Armstrong, imo he’s a fullback only at first grade level. IMO Sharpe and in particular Votano are better long term prospects.

And on a more serious note, just goes to show once again how hard it is to keep and develop good young players in the lower grades. The kid was never going to hang around here once he got the taste of first grade.

Votano played a couple of games at 5/8 in Flegg but has been moved back to fullback now. Was just named in the extended squad for the u/19 Blues as well.
