If you read through the 2003 list of Aust Schoolboy players 5 are now playing with Sydney City although none are Roosters juniors. As I continually argue with Roosters supporters how can the competition be fair unless an external draft of 5 players, a reduction in the salary cap by $1m and discounts (say up to $1m) are introduced for genuine local juniors who make the NRL/Origin or Aust Teams.
These measures alone would force the Roosters to invest their $ in their junior league rather than "developing players" poached from other teams/areas. Clubs like the Tigers, Panthers, Dragons, Manly, Knight, Raiders, Broncos, Nth Queensland and the Eels would gain an enormous advantage over the other clubs in terms of being able to retain and produce junior talent.
