Maybe like you say mrc suspends them and instead of a 10 min sin bin, the team that was fouled gets 1 extra tackle per set for 10 mins. So in our game, each team got 7 tackle sets. Then when iongi got binned instead, Tigers get 8 tackle sets but iongi stays on the field
Seriously mate, it was'nt that long ago referees had major issues counting to six, now you want to add a time component to it. Rugba Leeg is a simple game, let's not complicate it for no real benefit.

Wasn't the refs' fault. But it was a stroke of genius by the NRL when they decided to switch the enumeration of the tackle count from binary to base 10.

The ARL Commission has reportedly told former Eels coach Brad Arthur he the No.1 target to coach the Perth-based Bears on a $5.5 million deal as his NRL return heats up.

Code Sports reported an ARL Commission representative held secret talks with Arthur, who is currently coaching Leeds in the Super League, that he is the preferred candidate to take charge of the NRL’s 18th team in their inaugural season in 2027.

Arthur is set to be offered a mega $5.5 million deal to be the Bears coach in a mooted five-year contract from 2027.

You need to protect the players head one for their own well being and two for future law suits.

The problem is how do they detract players from continuing to do that

The game is faster, the players bigger and have the ability to offload so around the legs doesn't always cut it . It was simple but the players have put grown that simple game. It's probably why gridiron has so much padding and helmets

Why would they need to offer him so much when he’s practically begged for the job.

Good question.

I think he'll go OK, he a very experienced NRL coach and if its his job to get them to say mid table after 5 years, which he is capable of, they can then move onto another coach if they are more ambitious than mid table.

Good luck to him.

Need to incentivise leg tackles - maybe a second player is allowed to flop if it’s a legs tackle?

Due to recruitment challenges, they are going to be behind the eight ball from day one. It's not an attractive job for experienced coaches.

But is BA really experienced?? I know he's been coaching for 12 years, but he really had only one style and spent 11 years at the one club. I don't think he's as experienced as it seems.

Bellamy coached two games at Brisbane and 600 at Melbourne. But also, our club changed considerably between 2014 when Arthur took over and when he left. For example, winning half our games was considered a good season in 2014 whereas in 2023 we won half our games and it was a disaster.

As for one style, we changed it a number of times, including in 2019 when we switched focus to attacking through the middle. We had previously shifted the ball a lot, which killed us with errors in 2018. Then in 2023-24 when we brought Barrett in, we went back to shifting the ball early, which saw our completion rate plummet.

The difference between panthers this season and recent seasons is they aren't getting the 50/50 calls anymore.....things that make you go hmmm
Their defence has fallen off a cliff due to loss of JFH, and their attack isn't good enough to chase points. It leads to them taking more risks, completing fewer sets, and putting more pressure on their defence. It's a vicious circle.

If it was just about favouritism by the refs, is there any reason that would've stopped? More importantly, is there any reason they were ref favourites in the first place?
