Eels just need to come out and say any club that can offer us something of need we will work with them and Zac to get something done . If Melbourne are offering nothing , they get nothing.
Zac will probably say no to everywhere else but Melbourne being the entitled sook he is but then it’s not a restraint of trade is it . It’s again his choice he needs to live with .

It certainly can be, if one party gained no benefit from it and the other wants to hold them over a barrel.
Our benefit is not having him go to a direct competitor.

Lomax is a monumental farrrkwit that needs to start being accountable for his decisions, not just leaving every place he was worse off for his actions.

The good news is .. I see this as the end of Melbourne as we've known them the last 20 years. Chasing this peanut is against everything they've stood for . Losing 2 GFs in a row and a bunch of quality depth will make a club do uncharacteristic things.

Question: Has anyone actually emailed the club? Emailed the bosses? Emailed the NRL? Called the club?

All to share our feelings on how important we believe this is we stand up for ourselves finally?

In the old days talkback radio would be absolutely blowing up with passionate fans calling for blood if it happens.

I think we need a groundswell of fans to let their feeling known.

I've shared the general sentiment of this place with people i know in the club.

That’s reasoning for the original contract release, it isn’t reason for breaking the agreed terms of that contract release

Yes - but it goes to why he didn't want to return when his plans fell through.

And I've no doubt that his legal team will try to argue that the signing "under false pretences" led to Lomax developing mental health concerns, which are further exacerbated by not being allowed to play.

Or something like that.

I've seen this movie before.

I have.

I expressed my views that allowing Lomax to drag this proud club through the mud, without the club standing up for itself, would disappoint me immensely - to the point of possibly cancelling my membership.

But no circumstances changed between him asking for the release and then agreeing with the terms of the release.
If there was no scenario of him wanting to return to us then he shouldn’t have agreed to the stipulation and by doing so knowing he had no intention of ever giving us the option then he didn’t negotiate in good faith.
Which I guess given he’s failed to complete consecutive contracts is shame on us for thinking he would.
And there would definitely be some aspects for review if he went down mental health path, but unless he’s going to level accusations that he left an unsafe environment (and is opting to head to a Bellamy team?), then those mental health concerns occurred after the agreed release. No one is stopping him playing rugby league.
Even if the court is favourable to him, it’ll be months before he’s given that clearance and what effect do you reckon a mental health claim has on his prospects in a high intensity work environment? As big a red flag as failing to complete contracts.

I reckon we already have. For a player swap though I think our best bet is Scum, because of Ryles connection. A Scum player may be more amenable to moving because of him

The real cost is the opportunity cost of losing a current Origin and Test player without replacing him with someone of comparable quality. I’m no fan of Lomax, but the team is clearly worse off without him.
Stefano is the only one we floated that comes close to an equal value prospect. So unless we get that we straight up just come out the other side worse.

It's become a complete circus, which is exactly what the media want and indeed thrives upon. Anything Parra instantly sends media merkins into a frenzy. No other Sydney club comes close.
Talk on here about the Storm rescinding their 2009 non-premiership title as part of a trade off is completely laughable. This is a line in the sand situation and it so happens that the Eels are front and centre in this particular quagmire, hence the media hype. The fact that ONE (ex) NRL player can generate so much dissention during the off season or any other season is absolutely astounding.
Fast forward to Round 1 as it stands at this moment in time. Storm v Eels in Melbourne with a media generated war surrounding Lomax isn't something that JR needed and nor do we. The NRL should have made sure this shitfest was sorted out ages ago.
Rant completed.
