I'll ask the question again, because the last time I asked it, it got ignored (and I suspect it's because either it doesn't fit in with this narrative of "we didn't sign enough players", or people simply don't have the answer):

Where is the proof that we didn't make an effort to bolster our side by signing some more props, or another hooked?

Where is the proof that players didn't simply knock us back?

It's so easy to cry and say, "BA has no idea - he was too easygoing in the recruitment department," but nobody knows what went down.

We will never know either way. But the fact he blew about 400k on reserve grader Kane Evans means we chucked money away (and a spot in the squad) that could have been used on a genuine first grade middle forward.

Agree. Id rather we had to young guys promoted as back ups and cheap options rather then say Vave and Matagi who id guess would be on 250k. Put Evans 400k amd the 250k you save and you and up with a origin quality prop and then two back ups.

I haven't, recently, posted any five hundred word rants attacking merkins parentage. That would be (and was) nasty and deserving of the retaliation I received.

If you had truly read my posts for.a long time, you would know that I hate people who downright make shit up and ignore facts, and that when someone has a go at me I give as good or better back. That's literally what's gone down in this case, I have responded to people who thought they could win points by being smart arse and who have escalated to insulting my girlfriend. But hey, at least it's not as nasty as calling people idiots and death riders, right?

I really don't care what other people say about you but if you keep copping criticism there must be a valid reason. Think about it. Btw I never criticised you until you had posted multiple posts criticising me over a long time. I don't mind spirited debate but like to keep it civil, as everyone should.

Or it suggests that we might have been banking on signing someone else, who at the last minute bailed, and we had to pay a bit more to secure Evans.

I have no proof but money talks. BA has been here for now 5yrs. Are you suggesting he was unable to recruit a prop in that time of any quality? I can only count N.Brown. So 1/14 has NOT worked. BA has disrespected forwards and tried to buy old has beens hoping theyd give a good cheap option or some project player who is not first grade quality. If anyone wants to add to the list -

Vave,Matagi,Gower,Evans,Scott,Watmough,Frank,T rex, Brown,Hasson,Wicks,Rory,Faasso,Cody Nelson

And we let our best PROP go in JNR.

I think the minimum might be $100k now

For the top 26 players the minimum is $100k while the next 4 players it is $70k. Don't know the minimum for the development players.

Sorry but whatever we pay Evans is money lost. Unless he has a brain transplant we're stuck with him for another 2 plus years earning fg money in reserves. Roosters must be laughing at us now taking him off their hands.

We don’t know that. And we were after Evans fairly early last season. Anyway there is no reason to pay ‘a bit extra - 400k’ for a reserve grader

Last night game was an embarrassment to watch. For 70 minutes we fiddled, farted and messed around doing something that looked a little like RL. The players tried hard, very hard, and Ma'u was very good but overall BA has lost the plot.

I've never said until now but BA has to go. He's had this team for 4 plus years. In that time he has assembled a team of small forwards who nearly all cannot offload the ball and use themselves as battering rams. Wtf is that tactic?

I'd throw the bank at Bellamy and try to get him here. He might relish the opportunity to get a grossly underperforming team up to challenge for a premiership. Firstly we need to offload about half the team and start paying value for money rather than overpay our players, otherwise realistically we should have millions left in the cap which we don't.

They also are at the start of their careers and have upside. None are at peak.

Matterson IMO has become a good NRL player. In 2 yrs I reckon he will be quite good. Only played 2 yrs in forwards remember. Has the skills of a half. Just watch the kid once he develops his running game.

I tend to believe where there is smoke there is some fire with the media .... so i reckon we've tried .... but i think BA draws a line in the sand with salary .... though if we have really signed Jnr for decent $$$s then maybe BA is relinquishing
