If we don’t spend that 800k on some quality players we could be worse off. We might only win 3 games

100%. No point in offloading two or three players with a year to run and you can’t strengthen the squad. What’s the point paying them to play elsewhere. Isn’t this what RS did and we got into a huge mess cap wise?

Considering everyone thinks 2019 is going to be a disaster we can just use it to re-sign players off contract we want to keep and set us up for 2020.....

Do you see the cycle here? Every year we are talking about our chances in a year or twos time. Why not f**k this clown off and bring in someone with fresh ideas for 3-5 years.

Interestingly Penrith and the roosters also shopped jennnings around towards the end of his contract.,....

And plenty reckon they are the yardstick for managing a squad!!

So, when the Roosters paid Jennings to play for us there was no point?

Every club in the competition has paid players to play elsewhere. It's a question of which players and when that determines whether it is a good or bad idea.

No. At the end of 2017 we were all falling over ourselves with how good 2018 will be
Yep. Not dissimilar to our Hayne dilemma.
No doubt he will want;
. More money.
. A longer term.
Would we be repeating the sins of the past re signing him? Will he join the list headed by, Moses, Norman, Mennings and French? What evidence is there that he will play the majority of games hes contracted for? I reckon hes a huge gamble as good as his end of season form was. Maybe this is why he remains unsigned?

The questions needs to be asked, how and why did both halves, who both were potential origin prospects this year, fail so miserably??? And how did an origin and test centre fall from grace so quickly??? These are our 3 highest paid stars and we’re looking to offload them all at the same time. Let’s not forget the rumours of French being shopped. And who do we have on our books that can replace these players? Which younger players, salmon???? The kid was bog average. Not exactly sure why they’re being shopped, whatever the case it isn’t good. Let’s not forget about Hayne, why hasn’t he been resigned? Is that a salary cap situation?

Imo
1. The halves didn't work out because both want to be the dominant half. One has the potential to do so whilst the other one doesn't (imo). To get the true answer you'd have to ask the halves
2. Probably confidence. But there's heaps of reasons why a player drop off for a year.
3. Salmon, bog average? Righto. That's your opinion. But this time last year he had a broken frickin' neck. Was put into a team coming last with an unsettled spine. What did you expect the kid to do? He still has another year of Flegg ffs.
4. Hayne probably hasn't been re-signed as both he and the club said that contract negotiations would happen after the season. After the season, Hayne was overseas. Unsure what he's doing now. Maybe we're going to wait until O'Neill officially starts to announce his and others signing/re-signing. We only announced Paulo signing and Ferguson but if it wasn't for the roosters announcing Ferguson was leaving to Parra who knows how long it would've taken for us to announce it?

Ok, name me one club in the history of the NRL that has looked to offload it’s top 3 paid players in a single season. It’s very concerning to say the least. What does it say about BA’s recruitment decisions? Put the choc and Foran signings on top of those, and it’s no wonder we’re the laughing stock of the nrl.

Stop shifting your argument.

Ok, re our halves, does it raise any concerns about what in fact are our coaching staff doing? Do they have an actual plan or just signing players for the sake of it? Signing these players and then offloading them isn’t how it should be done. No wonder we have lack of leadership on the field, bc we lack it off it.

As for salmon, how would you describe him this year? Would you think he’s ready for a full season of FG?

Not really. When we signed Moses we needed a half. Moses probably wasn't the plan as the plan was Foran who would've been contracted until the end of next year. I reckon there's definitely a plan in place, but as Mike Tyson said "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth", Norman and Moses landed a few on the chin of the team this year.

He did his job. Pretty difficult to outright call a 19 year old bog average after less than 10 games, just like it would be difficult to call him a superstar, in a team coming last. His defence was better than I was expecting from him. Was he ready for a full season in FG in 2018? Definitely not. In 2019? Barring any injuries in the pre-season he could probably handle a full season of first grade.
