I reckon the squad sucks even with him in it, how this squad with him in it or not is near the cap is one for Ripleys. Especially when we had the money free in case Semi came back this year and sacked Edwards and signed no one. What did we do with it??? Or was it more Bernie hot air???

If we didn’t replace him with someone of similar ability, then pretty much. This replacement would need to be in addition to our current recruits to be a competitive squad IMO.

In a few interviews they both stated we have had money left aside for him and with Edwards left over coin we could of front loaded and extended a junior like Mahoney for example. Fergo and Siva* are the Hayne / Semi replacements IMO. I reckon that BA and his think tank see Hayne as being an unreliable footy enigma. They don’t want to hang their hat on him because it is entirely plausible that he may no deliver when the chips are down.

I said it before, i can understand why our players are getting what they are - and if they played to their potential we wouldnt be whinging .... only one that disappoints me is what MJ is reported to be on (and maybe junior is a touch over, but we needed what he offers, so meh)

That’s a pretty significant downgrade as far as I’m concerned and we’re coming off a wooden spoon and should be in a position to improve the roster.

I guess if you compare estimated salarys, and assume we were on our limit last season, the numbers probably closely balance and suggest we have again maxed (no pun intended) out.
Then we also need to consider Norman, Moses and Mennings have back ended contracts as well as the need to upgrade some of our promoted juniors.
Its scarey what some very average footy players can earn at our club.

Most of us forget what happened beyond last week. We are rating the squad based on form rather than on talent.

It’s why we overrated them going into 2018 and why we are now probably underrating them now.

The good news is that I’ll be pleasantly surprised when we finish 11th next year.
