He may be a good or even great guy, with knowledge of the game. That doesn’t automatically transpire into an inspiring coach.
You need to get out of your eighties mindset. There is a whole coaching and leadership team these days. It’s not the coach’s job to do everything. If he’s not the inspirational type he can bring in or promote someone who is.

80’s mindset? Wtf

So you claiming a great guy with knowledge of the game will automatically make a great coach?

Some of these juniors coming thru are big fellas. Fainga'a, Filia (Stefino's older brother) and now Oregon are all around 115kg. Interesting to see who'll be bought into squad by start of year.

I read Alavro is about same now while Jnr will play at just under 130kgs

I would.

Plus Norman left side, Brown right side would work much better

Norman is the best in goal kicker in the NRL, that alone is worth 15-20% extra possession in a game for us. That for me makes him much more valuable then Moses. And I think he would be more of a sharer then Moses when it comes to training and playing with Brown.

But honestly I would love for us to have both here for this season with a better pack and better start to our sets again now that we have Ferguson and see what they can both do in hopefully a better team and then decide.

Besides, what's the point of getting rid of either potential class player to free up what and then sign who? Brown will get his chance no matter whether we have both on board or not, so why potentially weaken the squad?

We should start thinking outside the box for signings. Maybe a scouting tour of the us. Surely there would be some fringe NFL players. Also Garry Lo. The guy that killed it at the World Cup is playing in some shitty French team. He would be very very cheap. We don’t just need to pick players from other NRL clubs. I kinda prefer unknowns. It could be a cheap Jason Talamona. Remember Semi was a nobody.

This place was better before Gary and Pou arrived. They are both passive aggressive as is a certain moderator.

At least I’m consistently aggressive and the real talent of these forums. It just shits me that @Hollywood Jesus and @The Colonel hardly ever post anymore.

Those two are on par with me when I’m in the zone.

Sorry to burst you head bubble mate but Ron Jeremy was/is the best poster here I think maybe by a long shot and I don't even agree with half his shit.

True mark of a great poster. You? Ah...whatever.

If we lose Norman and Moses doesn't improve from this last season much, then we will rue the day we let Norman go, with his ability in the kicking department and repeat sets. Add our poor goal kick options and we will be giving a substantial handicap to every other team. Normans kicking game is very consistent to say the least.

And anyone that understands footy, will know how invaluable that is when you want to dominate and close out plays.

I don’t think he even needs to be a great guy. Knowledge of the game is obviously one prerequisite but there would certainly be others. Nobody is claiming that any one trait would make a good coach though.

My point is that the player-facing traits, like being inspirational or a good teacher don’t necessarily need to reside in the head coach. There’s a reason teams have leadership groups and assistant coaches. The dynamic of the group is far more important than just the personality of the head coach. And in most cases his hands are tied when it comes to making the right changes. You’ll see this in probably any organisation.
