Didn't Evans miss games last year because he wasn't fit???

Evans was a bum buy, and many on the other site and here posted it before he arrived.
It's looking like another full season in Wentworthville for a player who was signed for 3 seasons.
He wasn't the answer and will never be. Hoffman is in a similar boat
The only fan he has is Pou.

It's not Evans fault, good luck to him for taking the 3 years, we all know who's at fault. He is at exactly the same level as he was at the roosters.

Who says the NRL runs a fair comp?

Firstly a salary cap that is constantly cheated on by the clubs and with some clubs having a roster that belies the cap. Nothing to see there for the favoured clubs.

Secondly the draw, again does it favour clubs? What is generally discounted is how much of a bearing does travel have in affecting your position on the ladder? I believe a big bearing. For the second year in a row (or is it more?) the Roosters have a favoured draw. This year they basically sit in their backyard drinking lattes and do very little travel. Ignoring the travel to Newcastle or Canberra as they are only minor trips they play at Suncorp twice, Adelaide Oval and Storm's home ground, the rest are all in Sydney, tailor made to help them win back to back titles. Other examples is when we play the Storm, nearly always its at their home ground. The super doper weekend of league at Suncorp Stadium, is it a Brisbane home game? Don't be silly, of course not! Also add to that their almost constant 7 day turnarounds. No favouritism here.

Not sure if reported here but Manly were recently given a $20m grant to build their $36m Centre of Excellence. The club and Federal Government to make up the difference. With the State Government so generous, and a state election looming, surely Parramatta should be asking the state and federal governments the same deal to build their CoE.

Here is a ranking of the draw difficulty for 2019. We are ranked 1 spot behind the roosters

Well you'd have to be an absolute imbecile to sign a depth player for three years. I guarantee that wasn't the plan. The plan was starting him.
You reckon we weren't going to need depth players in three years time? Evans will be 28 at the end of his three year contract. He'll still be at his peak. If we have better players keeping him in reserve grade that's a good sign for us.

Yea like he couldn't even force his way into a wooden spoon line up. That's a good sign lol.

It should be pointed out that for the magic weekend at Suncorp, the "away" game for the Boncos is against Manly who have been taking their home game V Brisbane to Suncorp for around the past 5 seasons anyway... So it's basically following the status quo of the past few seasons....

Parramatta Eels 'dunces' for trying to sign Issac Luke

“They’ve got to start thinking about the future, not the quick fix.”
The Parramatta Eels have been labelled ‘dunces’ for reportedly pursuing veteran Warriors hooker Issac Luke.

Luke has a get-out clause in his contract allowing him to leave the New Zealand club if a bigger offer comes his way – and it appears last year’s wooden spooners are willing to oblige.
Reports this week indicate Parramatta are ready to pounce with a deal worth around $700,000 over two years.
But that would be a major mistake according to Sporting News league expert Peter Peters, who urged the Eels to instead place their faith in rising No.9 Reed Mahoney.
“Parramatta continue to be the dunces of the NRL on and off the field. If they shun the local junior (Mahoney) for the veteran Luke it will be another nail in their reputation,” Zorba told Sky Sports Radio.

“They didn’t have much to cheer about last year but they did unearth a bright young hooker in Mahoney.

“He’s tough, (has) good skills from dummy half and looks a real prospect but the club obviously don’t think he’s ready.

“Parramatta, it seems, have jumped in with $700,000 (for Luke) - I reckon that’s way over the top.

“The best days are behind Issac Luke.”

Peters believes luring Luke back to Australia would be a panic buy by under-fire Eels coach Brad Arthur.

Zorba said: “When you’ve got a coach under the pressure he’s under, these are the sort of decision that are made.

“They’ve got to start thinking about the future, not the quick fix.”

We’ve been through this. The criteria for a COE is that it be constructed so that it is shared with the community.

The Souths COE for example is being built at Heffron Park and has to be shared with 10,000 screaming kids.

The Eels, like Penrith & Broncos will have their own COE at the Sale Yards which will be private and be used by all Eels grades exclusively.
