How is a line break defined? I have seen him a few times take off around the ruck, maybe not a line break but definitely made 20 or so metres.

A line break is defined as running through (and past)the defensive line, something that Kaysa hasn't done all year.

He is decent at those probing runs behind the ruck, but I'm not sure he's much of a line breaker.

Well no. He hasn't made 1 line break all year.
I'd wager neither has IDG, talk about offering zero from our dummy half. IMO dummy half is just as important as half these days.

"Waits for Pou to tell us with the style we play we don't need much from our rake options" it might also be a reason we have struggled to score points this season and we struggle winning the ruck......

Probably not, but he hasn't really had a chance either.

BTW Granville / Hodgson / Luke are the best hookers for line breaks - 5 each, which seems quite low - thought they would have more.

In fairness I think the reason we've struggled to score points this year is because we've had at least one of Kenny Edwards, Brad Takairangi, Clint Gutherson and Jeff Robson in the halves most of the season....service from acting half is generally ok until later in the game, but we've lost Peats entirely and Pritchard and King to injuries at various times....

In 20 games this year IDG has:
1 try
0 line breaks
2 try assits
2 line break assists
Are these the worst attacking stats of any starting hooker in the NRL?

I look forward to 2 more years

One only has to look at the Ladder to gauge the importance of a quality hooker.
1. Smith
2. Hodgson
3. Ennis
4. Granville

At the other end of the ladder we have

16. Randell
15. IDG
14. Friend
13. Cook

Also Baz we've had Flash Handbreak Gordon at fullback and i'd love a bottle of Kraken for every break he has butchered this season........

I agree they aren't good. But what is his defence like?

Obviously BA sees something in him.

Also I think as fans we under estimate the difference a player makes to the culture of the club. BA has mentioned plenty of times the need to build toughness and maybe he is willing to forgo some attack, as IDG brings other factors to the side / squad

4 form hookers in the comp this season = top 4.

Besides Friend who is all class, i';d say the worst dummy half options are at the clubs who are making up the numbers.

Yeah that certainly hasn't helped. The guy tries, and he's great defensively, but he has the ball skills of a lesbian, really. I think our attack will be better if we sign a reasonable 7 and with Guthbus/French at the back next year, regardless of the hooker.

His defence is ok missing 2.3 tackles a game. But as HappyMeel pointed out you need a good 9 if you want to go well in this comp. They touch the ball more than any other player. Look at the top 4 teams and their 9's. They are all great attacking players.

CARNEY’S SHOW

TODD Carney has knocked back an NRL return with at least two Sydney clubs attempting to sign him for next year. With Canberra reserve grader Sam Williams suddenly becoming hot property as several clubs search for a playmaker in a non-existent market, the two NRL clubs sent an S.O.S. to France in a desperate bid to lure the bad-boy back to the NRL.

Carney strongly considered a return but declined the interest as the prospect of an enormous transfer fee and his huge Super League salary presenting too many complications. Carney is back to career best form and his club — the Catalans Dragons — hinted at a record breaking transfer fee in return for letting their star No.7 return to Australia.

But Carney could be back in the NRL in 2018 with the Sunday Telegraph learning he has an NRL get-out-clause that can be activated at the end of
