Is anyone else finding contract talks, salary cap and explanations in how they happened a little boring now? We have a solid side. Let's hope we evolve and players get into form come finals and peak together.

Unfortunately given the way the NRL has allowed players to negotiate contracts a year in advance this is the situation we find ourselves in.

Quite honestly I don't wanna talk about next season half way through this season, I don't enjoy watching papalii go around as much this season as I did last season. I dredd the thought of brown or Moses signing with someone else this off season and having to sit through 2023 knowing one or both won't be with us in 2024.

The NRL really needs to sort this out.

I feel the same, to the point where I’m not enjoying them go around this season, showing us what where losing next season, including Matterson, he is gone!!!

The problem I find is there is no concession to the team the player is departing from. And a wider problem is that the talent just isn’t there. 17 teams is way too much for the available players

you asked a very silly question and got a stupid response.
I didn’t ask a question. I just pointed out a very silly post using the personal circumstances of Smith to have a crack at the club.
Honestly I would take him back and I think it’s very silly to think given how long he was at the club for that the club wouldn’t also explore resigning him.
But hey if he ends up playing reserve grade at the Roosters, I’m sure it was just a lack of foresight from the club.

Especially Brown who we have nurtured since a 15 Yr old into the nearly superstar he is today. It would really hurt to see him leave. Moses is almost in that same category

Well, I too would like him back at the club, considering what options we have left. Haven’t taken a shot at the club, just stating the facts. We don’t have a reserve half.

We have the perfect backup half. If we lost Moses we’d go much better with JA at 7 than Will Smith.
Yeah nah. If you look at the stats for both when they’ve played in the halves this year, that’s simply not true.
Regardless, we’re talking about bringing him back to play 14, which is he is a much better option than anyone in our current squad.

When they’ve played in the halves they’re not playing the same role. You need to look at the skillsets they bring. Jake Arthur is composed and has a kicking game. Smith is a better runner.
You need to as well. If Moses gets injured we wouldn’t have a creative half. We’d be relying solely on Drown’s running game. We’d struggle to score points, which is what happened last year. I agree we’d have to rely on Reed’s kicking game a bit more and Drown would have to step up in that area but it’s not as if JA’s kicking game is that great, it’s serviceable. It certainly doesn’t make up for what he lacks in pretty much every other area.

Agree. But if we lost D.Bown we would be better with Smith the JA.

Absolutely it does. If we lost Moses we would need all the extra kicking we could get.
