The whispers are growing louder that Parramatta half Jake Arthur may be about to sever ties with his father, Eels coach Brad Arthur.

Arthur has been stuck behind Mitchell Moses at Parramatta but he gets a chance to showcase his talents this week with Moses sidelined following a concussion.

His call-up to first grade comes as his future at Parramatta comes under the spotlight. Sport Con understands that several clubs have been contacted to gauge whether they have any interest in signing Jake Arthur for next season.

There has even been talk that he could be free to go before the August 1 deadline. That’s unlikely to happen given Arthur is a quality insurance policy for Parramatta’s existing halves. Further, neither the Eels nor Brad Arthur want Jake to leave.

However, there is a recognition that if he wants to become a permanent first grader, he may need to look elsewhere. As a result, it would be a surprise if he was still at the Eels next season given his path to first grade is blocked by Moses and five-eighth Dylan Brown.

The club also has Ethan Sanders in its ranks. Sanders is a member of the Junior Blues and smart judges expect him to be a 10-year first grader.

Its too hard to gauge at the moment... Sanders is a good player looks to move a lot smoother than Jakey with ball in hand..

Both could develop into good first grade players.. I think Sanders will come through with alot of players his own age and the club wont swap and change players around him in Flegg and Cup which will help him build combinations.

Jake hasnt had that in CUP well not consistently.

Surely if Moses commits to the end of 2027 we lose Sanders as well anyway (if he's any good and worthy of a first grade spot). I haven't seen Sanders play, and even if I had, he's playing against kids so it's hard to know whether any promise will come to fruition in the top grade. Junior form and NSW Cup form are notoriously poor guides.... Look at Jake Arthur for example. Leading all the stats in NSW Cup but looks completely out of place in first grade on the occasions I've sent him there bar a good half of footy last year v the Sea Eagles...

will be extremely disappointing if he left. Oh well, you can’t keep them all I guess.

Not necessarily. Sanders is 2/3 years away. No reason he can’t be blooded off the bench as a utility for a season or 2 whilst learning from Moses
Well yeah, that might be what we'd like to do... But if some other club offers him a starting role and starting salary, he's not just going to stick around and wait for Dylbags or Moses to hang them up or move along....

I'll be happy if we just sign a winger. Surely there's someone we could pick up who could do a job. Anyone heard anything recruitment wise? Also, CHN is playing reserve grade yet again for the Raiders surely he would've been a better signing than Davey.

Contracts mean nothing. if Sanders shows promise and 1st grade ability in 2-3 years i expect we will be ruthless and bone moses (especially if he hasnt won us a comp). all the powerful clubs make it happen. i'm sure the tigers will have moey back
