Sure, I agree. I think he's done amazingly in those intervening years, all things considered.

But it's time to stop pretending that on form he's a fixture in our starting team. He'll provide adeqaute "clubman" service in the next three seasons, but mostly from the bench during that period - maybe with the start of this season excepted.

Tbh, I think Mannah's defence is top good to waste coming off the bench.

There have been plenty of times where we have begun to lose momentum once he and Scott were both off.

He's a solid, hard-working prop - he'll never win you a game on his own, but more importantly, he'll never cost you a game.

And in 2016, he still managed to average almost 10 metres per run, so he's doing well, imo.

With Mannah, NRL coaches love players that they know what they will get each week. Rather players that are hot and cold. Each week BA knows exactly what he will get from Mannah, probably a consistent 7 out of 10.

So is BA even interested in Hunt? I know it's the Telecrap but we haven't even been mentioned

Meanwhile Penrith say they were never interested.

In response to media speculation, Panthers would like to make it clear that the club is not in the race to sign Ben Hunt.

“We have a number of talented youngsters at the club who we have brought through our development system and we are very happy with our playing roster as it stands,” Panthers Executive General Manager Rugby League Phil Gould AM said.

Mannahs biggest problem is he has been surrounded with to many guys like him. A horrid pack for most of his career. James Graheme has had Big frank josh jackson and klemmer along with big Sam....

Mannahs has allgood, lussick, Alvaro, terepo for a chunk. So the other forwards are t wearong out the defense. This year with Brown, Matagi, vae,Ke,manu ,frank, tepai the pack will be powerfull and i expect mannah to look more James graheme like. Who is also massively overated.

All the more reason to have Mannah start from the bench, so he's on field when Scott takles his breather break... as mentioned in my first post about the matter.

He's still a top 17 player no doubt, but like F Pritchard can easily fulfil his leadership duties without starting each game.

Yeah, I see your point.

But I think that we start games stronger, as a unit, with both Scott and Mannah.

Be interesting to see what happens.

I don't know why you think the starting team is such a big deal. Kenny Edwards is one of our best attacking forwards and he almost never starts.
Exactly, whether you're starting or on the bench is immaterial. If you're starting you have to be reliable and safe as this is when the opposition is fresh and the tempo high. In Edwards case he comes on when players are tired and is used as an attacking weapon. Much like Dean Widders was when Smithy was coach. It depends on the dynamic the coach is seeking. Other times the bench players are players of lesser ability simply to relieve the first choice players. I'm surprised Green doesn't bring Taumalolo on after 20 mins, I think he would be an even greater threat playing against tired players.
