We didn’t mke the semi finals for 10 years from 87 to 96 inclusive. We then made it under Brian Smith in 97.

I was born in 1994

Those years don't count for me haha.

1999 onwards is my memory of following this club.

First game i remember going too and ever recalling watching footy was the Double Header at the opening of the Olympic Stadium opening up against the Dragons that year.

And its only been disappointment ever since.

I was at that game in 1999. Great spectacle. Sydney at its absolute best.

On a positive note. How impressive is this from by Fox League. The music and song by the King Stingray's is brilliant and so perfect and add all those beautiful smiling faces, kiddies and fun poses it is a perfect little promo and totally as Aussie as you could get. If I were the NRL I would get these guys into the studio and ask them to rejig the song a little and make it the new NRL anthem.

Absolutely love it!

Talking about medically retired - I was listening to a NRL podcast (or was it the radio) on the weekend and they said (after Sam Burgess was punted) that he's off the Super League to coach in 2024 and Souths will be paying his final year of salary under his contract that was signed eons ago, then medically retired. So Souths pay it out of their pocket, just not out of their cap.

TBH I though insurance companies picked up the tab, but I must have that confused.

Looks like he is only committed until 2024 even though he is contracted until the end of 2025. He will be back. He can say all the right stuff but he’s miserable there and I can see him returning in 2025.

@Poupou Escobar which of our backrowers are off contract end of 2024? I know nothing but I reckon it will be Lane’s last year with us in 2024 which will leave a space for Ice to return.
