With our halves there is no way we should finish last irrespective of the rest of the roster. You have to remember that Moses was missing for about half the season this year and Asi was a project player who actually imo improved during the season. If Gutho isn't around in 2025, on top of the loss of RCG, I think anything higher than 12th position next year is a positive. I'm not expecting massive improvements next year, I think he needs 2025 to wash away the stench that has developed around the joint. Moving on Gutho, RCG and maybe Sivo and then Lane for 2026 should free up a heap of space to bring in some genuine talent and new blood for a decent crack in 2026 and 2027. I think JR should get at least until the end of 2027. Unless we finish stone motherless in 2025, 2026 and are still there halfway through 2027 - then it'll be time to reassess....
To be honest I don't believe this figure and would assume on around same amount as RCG $700-800k.It's no risk imo.....
Gutho is done...he is on a massive decline, best to get rid of him asap and start the rebuild now...same with RCG......great player but we got the best years out if him....now it's time to plan ahead....
The most mind boggling thing in all this, is why these guys are signed on such massive overs.....another thing ive mentioned ad nauseam and that continually baffles me is how Paulo is on around 950k per season..truly unbelievable stuff.
I'd be glad to take it off your hands. Has it been kept in a cool place all these years?View attachment 95383
Not sure I’ve ever mentioned this before. But an old lady randomly gave my mum a dusty unopened bottle of port as she had loads and was going to throw it out.
I have it saved in my man shed and think it’s amazing it’s called “Para” and it’s from 1947. Apologies if anyone has identified this before but I swore I’d crack it open in 22 if we won but it wasn’t to be. I mostly hate port however I’ve never cleaned the dust off and it’s a great addition besides by retro jerseys etc.
(FYI that’s a stock photo mine is in the cave and I’m lazy).
Is anyone a port drinker? Has the name / Vintage been mentioned on here before?
Love those deep back lines. Just watched the first 5 mins. Paul Taylor: four tackles in a row then kick pressure. Legend
If anyone is bored over the off-season and loves watching old games of footy.
A chunk of this match was put on YouTube.
1986 when we beat Manly at Brookvale.
1st hit up from the kick off: Steve Ella. Playing weight was about 75kg!

That’s the case for any off contract player. You make them an offer and then have to wait for their decision. You're missing the other vital component to the situation.
Nov 1 approaches and we have 2 million dollars in cap space in limbo. I doubt Ryles is thrilled
You’re the one saying we weren’t genuine contenders in 2022. If you’re basing it on the result of the grand final (a sample of one game) you’re off your head. If we were (or weren’t) genuine contenders, it was evident before the finals started. The ‘07 and ‘09 teams were just as ordinary as the ‘22 side.So we weren't geniune contenders in 09 when we made the GF??
Or in 07 when we made the preliminary??
You’re off your head.
The 2022 team could also beat anyone on the day. That preliminary final was a great comeback win, as underdogs. Those years we could have beaten anybody on our day and didn't need the opposition to shit the bed so we could beat them, and had a team stacked with talent. I'd go as far as including 2010 as a genuine contenders even though we didn't make the 8...
You merkins started it.So why bring it up and attempt to compare them? Trolling?
I doubt he was cheap. He was a top 17 NRL player by the age of 19.Alamoti the exception
And they’ve signed Papali’i. That’s where Fisher-Harris’ money would’ve gone.yeah, Lindsay Smith has just become an international..
It depends how many games they play. With our halves there is no way we should finish last irrespective of the rest of the roster.

I’ll take that as an admission. You merkins started it.

Sorry. Can't offer an opinion as I havent seen much of them. If they are better than Sangalang then that's a good thing cause that kid is a real goer. Fingers crossed. What are your thoughts on the two edge forwards who started ahead of him this year, Lokeni and Funa-Iuta?
Take it however you want. You were smart enough to see that the sample was too small but not smart enough to identify that it applies to any other analysis.I’ll take that as an admission.

Yeah exactly. We want to retain a player (e.g. Tuilagi) for 2026 and he doesn't have a PO. We make an offer and then wait while he decides. It's no different than trying to retain Penisini, who does have a PO. We make an offer and then wait while he decides. The PO doesn't mean he has longer to decide. Our offer will be higher than the PO, as will any offer from rival clubs. Why would he knock either offer back just because he has the PO to sit on? If he waits too long to make a decision the new offers could get pulled at any time and all he is left with is the PO, which is less than the club was trying to pay him. In that case we win, because we got him for the value of the PO rather than the upgrade that he knocked back for whatever reason. The club has to wait for their decision.....
