Not only that, but when Bevan comes into the backline and has the options of passing to either Mennings or Semi, the defence doesn't know where to look. Yes, he benefits greatly from players inside him, but he also makes players around him look better just by being there. Everytime he runs an inside line from now on the oppostion will have a hard time deciding who to tackle.

You have to factor in the credible chance that he doesn't end out playing for you though. He's certainly the best winger around. But if you can pick up Noafaluma a significant amount cheaper you've 200k+ to add to your budget for the spine.

Thats exactly what happened for Bevos try... Semi ran like a steamtrain inside, defense fell for it, bevo dummied, created 2 on 1, one more dummy, bob's your uncle

Just have to be carefull. Wing is a position that you can get bargain buys.
At fullback-Or in the halves you have to spend decent to get quality. And its rare you end up with a bargain or even a guy who does a solid job unless spend big. Even on Norman we had to develop him for 2 seasons before he come good.
Same goes for a quality second rower.

On the wing you can get guys cheap for less then 200k that will do a job and occasionally you can land a very good player on the cheap to fill that role.
Id treat lightly when talking about 750K for any guy on the wing.

If it was Toupo or Morris the same thing happens thou. I'm not knocking Semi he is great. But I wouldn't pay a winger the same as Corey Norman. It will weaken the rest of our squad.

We need for 2018 a star front rower and a boom second rower.

We would need to be careful chasing Bird IMO. Hypothetically speaking, if he came here he would have to be asking 1 mill based on what other playmakers are getting. That then leaves us in a situation where a. we push Taka out, and looking from the outside in, he seems to be a popular player, and b. we end up with the real possibility of both halves playing SOO if Corey keeps going the way he is, maybe not this year but inside the term of their contracts. And if Guth improves his goalkicking, then he is a bargain at 5/8 himself.

I think Bird would be looking at Hunt and thinking 'I'm better than that merkin'. He might take less to stay at the Sharks but to move it would have to be worth it.

It's not about being better, it's about worth, which means supply-and-demand. Halves with kicking and playmaking skills that can also defend are extremely rare, which is why they cost so much. There are plenty better players than guys like Cronk and Ben Hunt, but they are more easily replaced. Bird is one of them.

Our how back line apart from Semi is under contract for the next few years, unless it's a winger I really can't see us chasing half of the players we are rumoured to be interested in.

And also can't understand why everyone keeps on wanting to move Gutho, he has been great at 5/8 so far and will get better. There is a fair chance his move there is going to a success. So not so sure we are really in the market for a half.
