So it's pretty clear that officially announced signings are top 25 and anyone else is second tier.

I count 24 players announced by the club (stretching back to 2014) as contracted for next year. That includes Twal, O'Brien and Gennings. Supposedly second tier players announced by anyone except the Eels include Fogarty, Tanginoa and Nelson.

Although when was Twal reannounced? Was that early in the year?? Perhaps there was a policy change in who they announce???

Folau is already under contract from previous seasons...He could be outside the Top 25 still.

I reckon there would have been some demand for Folau when he re-signed. Enough for top 25 anyway. Twal is a very promising youngster with no real weaknesses. That's the kind of forward you can rely on to not let you down in first grade.

He's about the same age and not even 10% of the ability ... I certainly wouldn't be pinning your hopes on him

Kelepi is never going to be close to half the player Taumololo is, simple as that.

I reckon he needs to drop some weight, at the moment he's one of those meatheads you see at the gym who have so much excess muscle they can barely move. I mean, look at his biceps ffs. They're as big as his head! He's big and cumbersome and slow and not built at all like a footballer...

I guess there must be a reason he hasn't been able to crack a regular first grade spot but I thought he was great for us in a very poor side in 2013. By all reports he was killing it for wenty this year as well before getting injured. I'm looking forward to seeing if he can finally live up to his potential next year. Have we had a forward who runs the ball that hard since Fui?

I see him as more of a prop rather than an edge player. although I suspect we'll play him on the edge in ISP. That will be one heck of a forward pack with everyone fit.

His power is well into NRL standard, and that's the sort of thing fans love and probably overrate the importance of. But he has plenty of weaknesses, especially workrate, that let him down.

As per Gazzamatta's post in the Hoppa thread, if the $350K settlement is to come out of our 2017 cap, Hoppa is the missing 25th player in our 2017 top 25 for Salary Cap purposes.

Presumably we could then apply for dispensation, to parachute a 26th player into our top 25 cap, so as to not f**k up our second tier cap... given Hoppa can't actually play for us in 2017 (similar to someone sustaining a season ending injury)?
