I am sorry but that is such a cop out.

The reason we lost the game against the Storm was Nelson being 4 metres offside and getting in Mitch's way for the Drop Goal.

The reason we lost the game against the sharks was Gutho being sent for a 15 minute spell for a head knock and Mitch's Goal kicking.

The reason we lost the game against the Sea Eagles was Mitch's Goal Kicking.

its funny cause according to most Matto is a shit player who should be medically retired for the good of the game.

but when he not there, people act like hes one of the games elite players

What does it say about Nathan Browns report into the junior pathways ? Because that is what we are talking about here.
I have no doubt there was nepotism and other bullshit associated with junior representative teams. Clubs recruit a certain number of juniors with NRL potential (often from outside the catchment) and then fill out the rep squads with nuffies who have zero NRL potential. There are dozens of these merkins who are good enough to make up the numbers in an SG Ball squad, and maybe only a dozen positions, so they have to narrow down the pool somehow. How to choose between the third best player at Wenty or Guildford or Rouse Hill under 18s? Pick the kid you know, or whose parents you know, or whose coach you know. It doesn’t matter because the merkins will never even play reserve grade.

The report, as I understand, it criticized local clubs with juniors from 14s and above that had fathers of players coaching sides.

This meant that quality players were not being played regularly in the competition and hence restricting their development and escalation to junior representatives.

I believe the remediation for the report was that all sides under 13 or 14s and above should not have parents in the coaching or managerial section of a side.

Indeed it should be that A grade or C grade players for the club should take on the responsibilities to coach sides from under 14 and up. And that the club would organize for those players to undergo coaching training.
Yep. Merkins with an axe to grind seem to think the pathways report was about Brad Arthur and his sons. But those kids proved their quality through selection in junior rep teams (Australian Schoolboys or Junior Origin) and their high performance in reserve grade at a young age.

Which doesn't just happen in the Parramatta comp/district. WouId guarantee the same judgement wouId be made in every single comp between Newcastle/Illawarra and the Sydney region.....fathers coaching sides and playing favourites to their kids at the expense of better players.....
No it’s just in Parramatta and specific to the Arthur family ffs!!! Merkins see what they want to see.

One thing forgot about this BA, MA, nepotism chat...MA was never selected in the eels Matt's squad when he was 16.

He had to wait until he was 17. Most rated juniors are picked at 16 (when the ages changed during covid). While I never watched MA played at 16, considering his progress 3 years later, you would assume he was good enough at 16 to play Matt's....but for what ever reason wasn't selected.
Brad Arthur’s would’ve had the rep selectors sent to Siberia if he had any control over pathways staffing. The only reason Barrett picked Matt Arthur in first grade was because BA threatened to sack him from Northern England.

So that would include the 2016 under 14 Rouse Hill Rhinos, coached by none other than Brad Arthur. Just by coincidence, Jake also played in that side.

I assumed the rumours around RCG, Lane, Sivo, Matto were for 2025.
Probably a fair assumption for Sivo if he we can offload him to ESL.
Anyone have any little birds that know more?
For the ones still contracted for 2026, offering them a payout for next year might be required to have them completely off the books for the following year. It’s very exciting.

Given he went on to be one of the relatively few players to earn a top 30 NRL contract, it’s fair to say he would’ve starred in that team. He also played for his high school and was selected in the Australian Schoolboys. He might not be a first grader but he is far better than most players his age.

The question remains, did we put our eggs in the Rhino basket for back-up level players such as Jake, Russell and Loizou, when we could have looked further afield? Perhaps our outside backs situation might not be so dire.

Our outside backs issue is because for 3 years running we have had outside backs go down in January or February with ACL's.

2021 - Hayze Perham.
2022 - Haze Dunster
2023 - AMS
2024 - Ricahrd Penisini.
