Unfortunately I was the one who allowed myself to be drawn into the pointless revolving door this time - will try to be more disciplined!
You say this all the time, yet keep going back for more…..surely if people paid no attention this fwt, things would be better, I know he’ll never piss off, as he has a few minions, but u really make it so much worse along with others, just stop ?

Appears we have some decent juniors coming thru but they'll need experience and we've already lost one good prop (RCG) with Paulo only having 1-2 seasons left in him. So we need a quality middle to cover those losses and May is it. Our squad needs a mixture of experienced and emerging players to be competitive and quality players are in short supply.
Or we moved RCG on because we have enough middles (with Lane moving to the middle and the recruitment of Williams), and we are better served using RCG’s money elsewhere in the roster.

Signing May might be like signing Papenhuyzen; redundant.

Just focus on discussing footy instead of your personal opinion about me and how I post. I get it, mean girls build friendships by ganging up on the merkins they don’t like, but we are grown men ffs. We are here to discuss footy, not each other.

Yep. Dragons are being smart, the longer it drags on the more we pay (because he’s now under contract) and the less they have to pay
Realistically next week we should be telling Gutho next week are you accepting the Dragons or staying because we need to move forward.

You requested a release here is the release you and Ayoub sort your own shit out with the Dragons for 2025 and beyond.

we were discussing footy.

However, I had promised I wouldn't get involved in your circular bullshit and I did - that's my fault because everyone else has to wade through it.

As they are now!

If only real-world contracts worked like that.

With the number of players cut from the roster and limited signings, still seems strange that the club is waiting for Gutho to move on, not sure the cap has been handled that well previously.

Well, do we actually know for sure he requested a release. Isn't that just speculation too?

Well clearly yes its more complicated then that.

But realistically everyone is back at training next week bar the international players.

Is it really ideal if Gutho is going to still be lurking around. Waiting on Ayoub & Dragons to continue dicking around.

Seems like Brandon Smith won't be offered another contract at the Roosters. Might be worthwhile trying to see if the Roosters will let him go early if we free up Gutho's money.
Seems to be a bit of a wildcard with his attitude and off field behaviour isn't the greatest, but would form a good combo with Hands and the young 9's we bring through. Can start at 9 and then move to 13 later in games.

There is a reason why Melbourne let these blokes like Smith & Addo-Carr go.

Its not to do with football ability.

Both of them have come to Sydney and have been found wanting with professionalism & off-field problems.

No, but its also not signing a proven crock and woefully staffing the hooker position in an attempt to leave a pathway there for players of "potential"...I have been told by many people, including agents, that for at least two years they had been told not to bother with offering hookers to Parramatta.

You have to ask yourself why that is? Because we were so wonderfully stocked in that area?

Either our coach deliberately wanted to leave a pathway for his son, or he and the club had no clue or ability to ensure that position was properly staffed in the past two years....either way, it was a big failure.

It is this culture that we hopefully have left behind, to the chagrin of only you.

I don’t see the issue here.
The club tried to keep Mahoney. By reports he was close to re-signing until the Dogs came in with a bigger offer.

Club says ok, we will find an experienced hooker that can fill the gap until our star junior hooker is ready for FG. Basically what Manly did with Trent Hodkinson when they were bringing DCE through. This is nothing new for clubs.

Whether you think Hodgson was the right player to sign or not, this was not a bad strategy. You’re not being fair to Matt Arthur because his dad was the coach. The kid was playing reserve grade at 19 and is the current NSW under 19s hooker. It’s fair to say he has talent and not an awful player to bet on for the future.

The biggest problems for Matt Arthur are his surname, which some fans will hold against him, and the fact that as a 19 year old didn’t play like a star in the few first grade games he was basically forced to play in because we had little else in that position.

Fans are all about “How come they never give the young blokes a go” but then call a kid a plodder because he didn’t turn into a star on day 1.

Matt Arthur does have massive potential. Look how good he was in reserve grade this year, despite still being eligible for SG Ball.

If you think he just wanted to create pathways for his children, why did he extend both Moses and Drown? Why didn’t he give Matt Arthur his NRL debut?

FFS!
