Here are some stats for you to play with. I'm certainly learning from you and I agree that point differential tells more about a side then ladder position.
Let's break it down. Here it is. Where we finished on ladder based of differential.

2014 - 11th
2015 - 13th
2016 - 9th
2017 - 9th
2018 - 15th
2019 - 5th
2020 - 6th
2021 - 6th
2022 - 8th
2023 - 8th
2024 - 15th

BA finished with an average of 9.5 across his career.
So Average position is between 8th-9th. That puts him below average.
It also shows that 2022 was a lot of luck. We where the 8th best side all year and injuries crippled the better side. Same goes for 2017. I'm glad is used your stats and formulas cause I hadn't realised how LUCKY we got under Bushy.

His TOTAL points differential was -14.

Would you like one for Brian Smith?
Arthur took over a club that had just won back-to-back spoons. Under two different coaches. Hardly a superpower club. Every coach since Smith had their career worst results at Parramatta: Hagan, Anderson, Kearney and Stuart. Brad Arthur was on a hiding to nothing at our club.

But as I’ve said, Brian Smith was a genius. Plenty of worse coaches than him have won premierships. Being worse than Brian Smith is no knock on Brad Arthur. Hagan and Stuart were also worse than Smith and both premiership winners at better clubs.

I guess the joke’s on you smartarse. lol

Smith was an exceptional coach. If you want an idea of how good he was as a coach, check out the St George teams that lost to the Broncos in 92 and 93, then look at the Broncos squad, which was basically a QLD team with a NSW prop (Lazarus).
Agreed Smith was awesome. But apparently being worse than him means you can’t coach.

Smith took over after we missed the finals for a decade you f**king idiot. And you have used premiership winning coaches plenty of times to win an argument but now it suits you not to. You’re a f**king troll and a f**kwit and the real little man here.

Go seek some help, you deranged little merkin.

Mon even admitted on the TCT podcast we were left short in some area’s mainly the outside backs. But Pou still refuses to admit that the club or especially Bea Arthur could get anything wrong ever.
Every squad has weaknesses. It doesn’t mean they got it wrong, it means there aren’t enough quality players to go around ffs

I told you before that Smith was a genius. I’m glad you finally caught up.

I watched a video of Warnie saying how as a young spin bowler you’ve just got to get used to being tonked by everyone until you can actually learn the skill. It’s amazing as a sport rugby league hasn’t really appeared to grasp that.

I think it might be the same for posting on LU.

But what one doesn't want is 20 years of posting, and still being tonked. By that stage, something needs to change....

Ivan Cleary’s first 11 years:

Points for: 5227
Points against: 5339

Points differential: -112

127 wins
141 losses
Win percentage: 47.3%

That's taking over 3 different clubs struggling and building them. Of course the first few yrs will be worse so you
Just can't compare it. Better would be using BAs first 3 yrs and multiplying that x3 I guess.

Struggling clubs? Anderson and Kearney both had better records at the Warriors than at Parramatta.

In any case, the Eels stopped being a struggling club after the new board took over, and Arthur’s record was very good from then on, even including 2024.

It’s impressive how Cleary went from being such a mediocre coach to such a great one in the last five years.
Many rave over Gould, a legend in his own mind, and how he established pathways, etc. A reckon other people did that but he'll take the credit anyway. I keep telling everyone Gould is a death rider. He undermined Cleary in his first stint at Penrith as he did their other coaches there, which he appointed. Only once the board woke up and appointed Cleary, against his wishes, and get rid of him did Cleary achieve success. Wonder if he will do that at the Dogs or has finally learnt his lesson? Or is he the one buying and selling their players?
