That “shoulder fend” was about the only good thing packer did for us. You’re looking at about $800k worth of contract performance then and there.

Behold the restaurant Buddha I’m bringing up to scratch:

If I pray to it hard enough, either you guys or us might land Garrick.

Or an extra prawn in our next pad Thai.

It's foaming at the mouth. Could have rabies.

I’m not the one who said Matterson won’t be finishing this contract.

Weren’t you one of the ones who claimed we had a great side but the former coach couldn’t get the best out of them?

If you’ve changed your tune and the squad now isn’t good enough, then we need to pay for better ones to come to the club. Money talks. It’s why Gould had to move players on before Galvin’s big 2026 contract kicks in.
As usual you make a post as if you have knowledge. My contention has always been the recruitment has let the team down for a number of years. Like most, I want to be seen as incorrect , but nothing has really changed if our cap is close to full and the roster doesn’t have room given where we are positioned in the NRL.

If suddenly we are become much better in that space, then that will be tremendous, just not confident but still prepared to wait and see.

Why would you expect the recruitment/retention team to be any better than the ones from previous decades? We made a grand final three years ago. That's as relevant as our results this year. You win some, you lose some. There's no need to blame anyone.

So because you have a poor work record, no one should expect any improvement. Obviously you work within govt confines and are used to limited criticism. As before, we should expect a decent recruitment drive given our empirical value as the 3rd most valuable club, we certainly don’t t have the 3rd best recruitment results.

Anyway, still hope we can turn in a better result from that area, given they continue in the roles.

Are our clowns really that bad that everyone makes out . Let’s look at the clubs
Nth qld - blessed to have Thurston , Morgan and Taumalalo for short period at peak and have been useless since
Dolphins too early to tell
Titans - mess
Broncos - have advantages no one has and needed to have the bullshit cap advantages to do anything
Newcastle - mess and Dylan browns deal epitomes it
Dragons - rabble
Dogs - Gould . They get tick
Penrith - obvious tick
Roosters - politis and all big business tick
Tigers - been a rabble but have Richo , he should do well
Manly - mess
Souths - shithouse ever since they got solly and Crowe also stepped back
Canberra - yeh good tick
Storm - yes great tick
Warriors - finally on way up
Sharks - great pathways and do well recruiting etc . Management tick

So basically our management is mid tier and 4 clubs above our management is due to the money they can get and be over the cap

I've gone off Thai food. It was all the rage in the late 90s/ 2000s. I probably over did it.
I was back in Penrith those days and people were saying how much better it was then the other 3 options Chinese, The Black Stump or KFC. It was all the rage.

He looks a strange cat if I could put it in a nice way.

He never seemed like he was personally close to any of his team mates the whole time here at Parra.

Just looked very individualised. And some of the decisions he has made throughout his career have reflected that.

After a game on the field you would never see him joking around or look tightknit with a team mate or opposition player that they were best buddies.

And whenever he scored a try it was pretty similar reaction.

On social media you rarely saw him hanging out with team mates in a non club capacity.
Yet BA put him in the leadership group the minute he walked through the door.

So because you have a poor work record, no one should expect any improvement.
I'm asking why you think better-than-average staff should be at our club? What is it about the Eels that should attract better staff than other clubs? Is it just the fact you are part of the fanbase that is the drawcard?
Obviously you work within govt confines and are used to limited criticism. As before, we should expect a decent recruitment drive given our empirical value as the 3rd most valuable club, we certainly don’t t have the 3rd best recruitment results.
Then maybe we're not the third most valuable club. You'd think the third most valuable club would have better results over 40 years. That's a long time to be average, and bewildering that you should hold the current mob to higher standards. They're only working with what they've got.

If chef has been properly trained in the art, it makes a huge difference.

Like anything else I guess.

It’s interesting reviving stuff with green chrome. It’s not easy to source. You have to be careful, it melts away if it gets wet and it’s very pricey.

You could use it bring up connectors and clean old wires I guess.

Great Podcast

Ryles is in full control of where this club is heading.

I don't think the club has been in safer hands since Brian Smith was running the ship.

With coaches some you can see the BS straight away i reckon when they speak. And they don't have a grasp on things.

Ryles you know what your getting is transparent and open.

Even the way he spoke about how Gutho's exit was handled. It was as much making sure Gutho was looked after going elsewhere getting a rich deal for a few extra years.

Just hearing a few snippets tactically reinforces how under-coached and basic our game was for so long.

Ryles gave away a few hints about adding more variation to our middle third attack next year as combinations grow and also adding more style to the dummy half craft of Ryley & TDS.

One key point he spoke about was how he & Nathan Brown have been encouraging Moses to be a support runner when a break is made.

As a junior that was one of Moses strengths in his early days at the tigers being there once a break is made and with Mitch's speed his hard to run down in open space.

Something he has gone away from for a few years trying to manage & control the side.

Ryles pointed out that Newcastle game in the last round we made a break on the other side and Moses was there in support to finish off break as one of the key reminders of how good Moses is in support as much as creating the plays.

Glad we didn’t employ the cuck Hannay.
