Ryan Benjafield i'm sorry but cannot tell you much about him other than he mainly played in our Jim Beam Cup which is 2 levels down from 1st Grade. He made the bench a few times (i think) in the Premier League due to others out injured but with the talent that Penrith had in Premier it was a hard task to move up and keep a position. If he stayed on he might have been given the opportunity to keep a posi in Premier but Premier is not 1st Grade and if this is the reason Ryan moved to England and signed with your mob then i wish him all the best because that is what they all want in the end, isn't.

I would have watched him a few times but he didnt really stand out to me, but if he is the bloke i remember he is quite a big fella and he should do well given the chance.

Please keep us posted on him, i wouldn't mind knowing how he does with Hull next season.

I imagine Shane Richardson would have given him a huge rap if Hull FC have signed him, hey?

Cheers
Sandi.

Thanks for that Sandi . Apparently Shane Richardson has Benjafield marked down as the new Craig Greenhill . That`s a pretty good recommendation as Greenhill was our best forward last year . Richardson was also said to be stunned when Benjafield knocked back a contract at Penrith and opted to try his luck in SL . When he told Richardson this obviously he was going to point Benjafield in the direction of Hull . I`ll keep you informed as to his progress as and when the season begins .

Ah there you go then. I wouldnt blame him for wanting to try his luck in the SL because as i said we have so many junior props coming thru. It's damn hard for them. Being 21 does he take the chance and wait another year & hope to make 1st Grade thru others injuries or whilst he is young enough enjoy some quality time overseas to gain some experience? The latter is probably the more enticing option for him. Good luck to him.

And we look forward to hearing how he goes.

Benjafield has now been loaned to York City Knights , who play in a division two below SL, for a month . Shaun McRae ,the Hull coach , believes this will help to bring him up to SL standard . How playing in a league two rungs down from where you`re expected to play is going to improve you only McRae knows ! Early days but all the evidence points to McRae having been sold a pup .

I'm not sure Roo.

Thanks DP. It's a shame for Ryan i am sure he wouldnt want to have gone all that way to play in 2 divsions lower when he was already doing that here.

I am not debating that he is not English. The suggestion that his junior clubs are out west here in Aus must mean that he came out as a youngster and suggests his family is most likely still here in Aus.

When you mentioned it earlier that it wouldnt be an issue because he is going back home i assumed you meant he was coming back here to Aus...hence my question `is he?' and my confusion on it.

But now i know he is still in England and playing for 2 divisions lower than the SL just as if he was back here in his Aus home. :D
