Can't help but to feel that the NRL doesn't want to offend Manly. I thought the league had a duty to protect the players. What I saw from Matai was terrible.

Again (bias) i saw it in a different light, i don't think it was worthy of a suspension. And i also don't think the NRL has a vested interest in helping Manly with the Comp...

If in the future any player is charged with sliding into an opponent and leading with the knees all they have to do in their defence is play the footage of Matai and they will have no case to answer. Surely now a precedent has been set for this offence.

He could have just led with the feet then used a montage of a few hundred examples from Slater as his defense. Instead he made an attempt to pull back and it resulted in slight contact with the knees.
