All the difficulties and excuses aside, what ever happened to our much vaunted defence?
We won a premiership on the back of that dynamic in 2010.
But then again Wayne Bennett was the coach...forgot.

Bennett brought in some players to address our soft underbelly. Then he looked at the squad he had and devised plans, plays and systems to make the best of each players strengths and skills and also devised training programs and systems to address his players weaknesses.

Granted - Bennett was great for us.
What happened thereafter because we look soft now? We looked soft last year in a number of games.
Melbourne, Parra and Canterbury come to mind.
We keep talking about our spine and our attack but without some starch in our defence, all the rest is details.

Price replaced Bennett and decided to implement his own style of football rather than continue the Bennett style. We also lost some vey good players for the 2012 season:
Gasnier, Boyd, Smith and a few others.

Our current team is nowhere near as well coached as the SGI NRL teams of 2009, 2010 and the first half of 2011.

I'd like to know exactly what percentage of knowledgable Dragons fans actually back McGregor by now. He had his apologists the first few years but now it seems none of us can justify him staying in the position.

This is getting a bit farcical. Historically we don't accept mediocrity from our coaches. History has also taught us that if you don't have the right coach, it doesn't matter who plays, you can't win a comp.

Some might say a 49% success rate is passable. Not if you coach the mighty Dragons.
