Salary Cap exemptions

In this day and age, it’s becoming increasingly common for teams to take a punt on a reformed player who has a difficult past. The Broncos charity with Matt Lodge, and the Dragons effort in turning the life of Big Russell Packer around come to mind.

Taking on a player with a criminal past is a huge risk for a club. They risk their reputation, sponsorship and a lashing from the leftist media and PC police. Given this, I think clubs should be given salary cap exemptions for taking on players with difficult or criminal pasts.

It is the games duty to reform the lives of these men and to support them in the way they are best able to respond to - by playing rugby league. This would encourage clubs to take on men and assist them on their redemptive journeys.

Who knows how many lives we could change?

What do we all think?

Who doesn’t like a comeback story. If Todd Greenberg is more concerned with virtue signalling than actually rebuilding the lives of young Australians, maybe he’s not morally equipped for such an influential role.

No thanks

Parra gets a cap exemption for buying a withered old douche with pre existing injuries

We don't want them recruiting at silverwater

Shit I've just given them ideas

The wages of these players are already reduced why should anyone the players included be rewarded by being able to go outside the system?

The clubs get the services of a good player at rock bottom prices, the players get to continue an amazing career. Seems like the incentives are already there.

Salary cap exemptions for screw ups? How about the club deducts their pay from the cap twice, once for the player and the other as a bond to cover any future damages.

Not for Lodge no, he was offered a lot more to go to the Knights but mysteriously took much less to go to Brisbane. They deserve no exemptions for him as it is obvious to all that something isn't right there.
